We are invited to visit the Century Square job site on Wednesday February 17 morning at 8:20. Lee Cisneros of Midway will be our host. We may be able to observe some of the construction activity, but safety concerns will limit our access to the site. Here is his message:
Yes, you are cleared to visit the site. Wednesday morning works best for the GC’s.
Relative to framing occurring on Cavalry Court- the GC would prefer to limit student access to the central courtyard area or exterior. Meaning you cant walk into buildings that are in process of wood framing.
George hotel will begin steel erection and continue doing concrete pours. We need to stay away from cranes and trucks.
The multi-family project has a lot of work going on- framing , interior work, exterior brick. The GC may have all students sign a liability waiver.
All visitors need closed toed shoes, hard hat and safety vest.
I must emphasize: YOU MUST WEAR CLOSED TOE SHOES, A HARD HAT AND A SAFETY VEST.
I recommend that you buy this gear. Academy has steel toe shoes for about $20. They are ugly but practical for job site wear. Your cowboy boots are more stylish and will be acceptable. Home Depot and Lowe's have hard hats and safety vests (typically bright yellow or green). They are not expensive (10 bucks and up). If you are going to work in the building industry, you should simply carry this stuff around in the trunk of your car. If you are familiar with job site protocol, you are more valuable to your employer.
