Read your textbook for relevant facts about Native Americans and their relations with European immigrants. Then, carefully read the six documents listed above. Write an essay analyzing how attitudes and policies toward Native Americans changed over time.
Address the following questions: How did Europeans’ attitudes toward Native Americans develop over time? Does the role of religion change over time? What was the effect of European encounters with Native Americans? How did European perceptions of Native Americans change over time?
(Please note that the documents have mostly retained the original spelling, which is sometimes challenging. Very often where we would use an "s," they used a "sharp-s," which looks just like an "f." Similarly, they often used a "u" instead of a "v." If you read it carefully, you should be able to work it out pretty quickly.)
You must cite your sources, and list them at the end of your paper as a List of Works Cited.
