Religion in the realm of Chiyo is split into four main chapters. The first is the Chapter of Galvron, also known as The Chapter of Scientology. They are in charge of studying the Elidon summoned by the summoners and archiving all scientific and religious discoveries. The second is the Chapter of Balaria, also known as The Knights of Balaria. The knights are responsible for training and maintaining a legion of Paladins to protect the land and its people. The third is the Chapter of Orboros, also known as The Watchers. it is their duty to guide the people of Chiyo along and lead them onto the path of righteousness and goodness. Together, these three chapters form the Religious Sanction and help guide and protect the realm of Chiyo. The fourth is more of a cult; The Cult of Belvar. What this cult seeks is unknown but what is known is that they pose a threat to all of Chiyo.
The Religious Sanction was formed by the first “popes” of each individual chapters in hope that it will reduce the chance of any conflict arising between them and possibly devastating the land. thus, each chapter agreed to join all their resources and become a single group. While they do function individually, they all work together and for general purposes can be considered the same church.
The members of the Cult of Belvar have been declared heretics and threats to Chiyo. Thus, anyone seen working with them (Except under certain circumstances) are considered traitors and are sentenced to death unless they seek atonement from the Religious Sanction. After which their ‘previous life’ is forfeit and they are forced into working for the sanction.
The Knights of Balaria.
These knights all follow the ways of Balaria and are all proclaimed Paladins. At any one time, there are at least 6,000 Paladins in service to the Religious Sanction. These paladins are all trained in the art of war and how to utilize their Crystal Auras to their fullest. They are taught to obey the laws of the sanction first and foremost. The laws are as follows:
Though all Paladins serve the Sanction first and foremost, they are not forbidden from allying themselves with other factions, such as Alexius, the New Republic, the Damis Empire, Hyza, or even the group known as the New Dawn. This division is made up of exclusively Paladins, though they have several Inquisitors, Clerics, and Magus’s.
The Watchers.
The Watchers work mostly as advisors and diplomats for the church, often representing their interests during any form of political get together. While most Clerics fall under this division, it is not uncommon to see a Bard working for this division. Working tirelessly to try and maintain some semblance of peace between the kingdoms of man.
The Chapter of Scientology.
The members of this chapter act as archivists and scientists. Most of their work focuses on the Summoners and their Elidons. This division is made up of almost exclusively magic wielders, though Alchemists, Clerics, Monks, and even some Inquisitors are members. Often working as healers, teachers, and explorers, the Chapter of Scientology do not usually pick sides and prefer to remain neutral in conflicts aiding members of the Religious Sanction first and foremost before others.
