In the beginning there was darkness. But suddenly out of that darkness came the light. And in that light the being Oroboros was born into existence, a great entity having near limitless power. Within his solitude, he coalesced his energy and created the universe to give himself purpose in his new existence. Using his power, Oroboros breathed into existence the stars that would cover the heavens and molded a small sphere in the center of his new creation. This was the birth of Chiyo.
After creating this world, Oroboros felt that it lacked the very light that had birthed him into existence. He created the trees, mountains, vast waters and many magnificent things to bring Chiyo to life. He then breathed life into animals and other sentient beings he had molded from nothingness to inhabit the world. Over the years the world grew, and Oroboros watched instead of guiding the creations. His creations became selfish and cruel to one another. Fighting over resources and land started to twist his living creations. Their actions disgusted Oroboros, and he left his universe to its own devices and began to create other worlds in an attempt to make perfection.
It was after the creation of the third realm that Oroboros began to feel the strain of his powers, and in an effort to regain them, laid his head down to slumber. While he slept his power continued to expand forth and create. The guilt of him leaving his first world to their own fate tormented his sleep. His nightmares being brought to life by his powers to populate this third existence. Monsters, demons, foul beasts and other creatures of darkness became reality upon this third realm. These creations took over the third realm which Oroboros had created. Using the power, and magic that had seeped into the world through Oroboros, they opened a rift into the second realm and begin to invade. Driven by the twisted and dark nature that had been the center of their creation, they hungrily entered the second realm in droves to devour for the simple pleasure of harming others.
It was at this time that Oroboros awoke in confusion. He realized, far too late, that his fiendish nightmares had become reality. In regret for having slumbered, he attempted to correct his mistake and lay waste to these monsters that had been created from his dreams. But, it had no effect. He found that he had grown weaker than before with his power having been syphoned while he had slept. Unable to vanquish the horde of nightmares himself, Oroboros decided to concentrate his remaining energies into three aspects of himself in an effort to at least control the tides of chaos. Glavron was created from the aspect of Oroboros’ magical abilities. Balaria was created from his love and compassion. While Belvar was created from his desire to destroy the nightmares he had created.
The creation of his three children had been too late to save the second world, and so the decision was made to return to the first: Chiyo. There they would stay and prepare for the horde. It was a surprise to Oroboros that the creatures of his third creation had not yet reached Chiyo when they arrived. He introduced himself, and his children, to the humans of the world by breaking a small portion of his magic off and seeding it into the world of Chiyo to help combat the coming fight against the demons. This magical seed manifested itself into crystal shards, which the sentient beings of Chiyo used to craft great magical weapons with the guidance of Belvar and the magical spells of Galvron. After many years of walking among the creations of Oroboros, he and his four children started to become revered as gods among them.
After years of preparation rifts began to open that linked the second realm to Chiyo and all manner of dark beings began to flood the world. Some were the monsters which the four had prepared the world for while others were innocents from the second realm who sought sanctuary. Unfortunately, those who had prepared did not differentiate the benevolent from the malevolent and cut down both. The war was a long one but with the beings of Chiyo being aided by the four gods they were able to prevail against the invasion. But, not without a cost. Most of the world of Chiyo had still been corrupted and some demons remained hidden in the far corners of the world.
After the war, the four gods together created a golden gate, and a guardian to watch over that gate to protect Chiyo from the other realms and prevent anyone from traveling in between them. From this war, Oroboros became wiser and decided to take part in guiding and watching over his creations once again. Unfortunately, he had been weakened greatly from splitting his energy and seeing this weakness, Belvar offered to take his father’s place. Allowing him to rule over all of Chiyo. Oroboros, who knew of his son’s violent and destructive nature, declined him. Wise enough to know had the world been left in Belvar’s hands it would be destroyed and torn asunder.
Furious by his father’s refusal, Belvar challenged his father to a duel. The disagreement to be settled by the only way the aspect of Oroboros’ anger knew how; through combat. Their duel was mighty, but during it Oroboros’ spear was disarmed by Belvar. The son stood over his father with his sword to his neck, deeming Oroboros too weak to lead them or his creations any longer. He prepared to remove his father’s head, not knowing that his sister, Balaria, had took up their father’s spear. Before Belvar could claim their father’s head, Balaria pierced her brother through the back with the spear and took him by surprise. Using this critical distraction to his advantage, Oroboros struck his son down and banished him through the golden gate and into the second realm for all eternity. Enraged that his winning of the duel had been interrupted, he cursed his father and sister, swearing to return again as he plummeted into the darkness that had swallowed the second realm.
With Belvar now banished, and no one to fill the gap of power, Balaria took her father’s spear and declared herself the new goddess of war, adding to her already acquired dominions of passion and love. She urged her father to once again rest to recover his lost power and strength, but Oroboros initially refused. Still she pressed until a compromise had been reached. Oroboros would only rest for twelve hours a day and allow his two remaining children to watch over his creations, until he would rise again for twelve hours to continue his own vigil. It was after this decision that Galvron had returned, having been wandering the world of Chiyo himself on foot closing the rifts and tears left over by the war. On hearing of his brother Belvar’s fate, the aspect of magic remained indifferent to the decision. His brother having made his own fate by challenging their father.
The war had taken its toll on all the gods. Each of their powers having waned during the long battle, and they all needed rest. In agreement, the three separated themselves from Chiyo and no longer walked among them. They would continue to watch over the world but decided they would no longer interfere with the creations of Oroboros. They would only offer their guidance. Their attentions being turned, now, mainly to the golden gate. All three waiting and preparing for the next unavoidable demon invasion.
