John Donaldson-Hudson's Bentley

Details of this remarkable Bentley Tourer will follow in due course, and this car is still in existence today.

In the Le Mans race of 1927, a prototype 4½ litre Bentley ran beside two 3 litre Bentleys. Due to damage sustained in an accident, this car had to retire from the race. Commercial production of the 4½ litre Bentley began towards the end of 1927. It was produced in batches of 25, with changes to specification only taking place between batches. A 4½ litre Bentley did win the Le Mans race in 1928, driven by W. Barnato, and B. Rubin, at an average speed of 69.11 mph for the 1658.6 miles of the 10.726 mile circuit.

The car was sold in 2012 for £528,000, sold again on 22nd  October 2018 for £855,000.
