Thomas Hudson's beneficiaries
1st Generation
Thomas Hudson, who purchased The Hill, or Cheswardine Hall as it is now known in about 1833, died without issue, after marrying Frances Bamford Hesketh on the 27th July 1819. His sister, Elizabeth Hudson (cir 1764 - 1849) married Alexander Donaldson (1760 - 1819) in 1787. They had five sons and three daughters.
2nd Generation
John Donaldson (cir 1803 - 1856) , the third son, and Catherine Halliley (1813 - 1905) were married in 1835. They had two sons, and either two or three daughters.
3rd Generation
Thomas Donaldson (1836 - 1867) was the first son, whilst Charles Donaldson (1840 - 1893) was the second son.
Thomas Donaldson did not inherit the Cheswardine Estate, and sadly died in 1867, only a few years after Charles Donaldson had become the legal inheritor, who having reached his maturity in 1861, changed his name by Royal Assent on the 30th January 1862, to Charles Donaldson-Hudson.
Charles married Sara Marie Streatfeild (1850 - 1909) on the 18th February 1870 and they subsequently had three girls and one boy.
4th Generation
Charles and Marie's children were Kathleen Marie ( 1871 -? ), Doris ( 1872 - 1935 ), Ralph Charles ( 1873 - 1941) and Violet Marie ( 1878 - 1944).
Kathleen Marie Donaldson-Hudson married John Hurleston Leche (1) (1858 - 1894) in 1888 - their son was also John Hurleston Leche (2) ( 1889 - 1960).
Doris Donaldson-Hudson married Philip Tatton Davies-Cooke (1863 - 1946 ) in 1894. They had three children, Philip Ronald ( b 1896), Richard Anthony (b 1909 ) and Paul John ( 1906 - 1940 ).
Ralph Charles Donaldson-Hudson ( 1874 - 1941 ) married Muriel Balfour (1876 - 1956 ) in 1899.
Violet Marie Donaldson-Hudson never married.
5th Generation
Ralph and Muriel had four children, Michael ( 1900 - 1965), Ruth ( 1902 - 1979) Helen Margaret (1906 - 1957) and John ( 1908 - 1949).
Michael Donaldson-Hudson married first Hersey Muriel Corbet (b 1897) in 1923, but there was no issue from this marriage. Secondly he married Jacynth Ellerton ( 1897 - 1987 ) in 1933, and their only child, was a son, Hugh. Thirdly he married Moira/Elsie Harland in 1953.
Ruth Donaldson-Hudson never married.
Helen Margaret Donaldson-Hudson married John Orme Kerrison ( 1907 - 1989 )in 1932, and they had one son, still living, born in 1937. She later married Sir John Hurleston Leche (2) in 1953.
John Donaldson-Hudson married Dorothy Henrietta Brunstrom (a.k.a. Jane Carr) ( 1909 - 1957 ) in 1943, and they had one daughter, still living, born in 1944. He subsequently married Dorothy Elizabeth Freemantle ( 1915 - 2005) in 1947, and they had one daughter, still living, born in 1948.
6th Generation
Michael and Jacynth Donaldson-Hudson had one son, Hugh Donaldson-Hudson, born in 1936.
Helen and John Kerrison, had one son, still living, born in 1937.
John and Dorothy Henrietta Donaldson-Hudson's living daughter was born in 1944
John and Dorothy Elizabeth Donaldson-Hudson's living daughter was born in 1948
7th & 8th Generations
Hugh Donaldson-Hudson (a.k.a.Hugh Hudson) married a Scottish lady in 1977 and they have a son, still living, who was born in London in 1978. Hugh Hudson married a British actress in 2003.
The son of Helen and John Kerrison married in 1964, and from that marriage arose two daughters and one son, all living. One of the daughters, born in 1966, has a living son.
Both the daughters of John Donaldson-Hudson have married, the elder to an Australian, having one living son, the younger marrying in 1971, having one living daughter, who has married and has 3 living children.
