What a day!

Special thanks to my assistant for getting to the pitch with his fork and brush before 9am to ensure the game went ahead on this, the wettest day of the year (whilst his so called mate 'Basil' sat in the van keeping warm and dry).

The over enthusiastic ref was slipped a few quid I'm sure by Matt Tighe for the game to be played because the pitch was soaked and the rain relentless.

Started sloppy as usual and gifted the opposition a goal. 1-0 down for most of the game (should I mention the 1st half penalty miss - no better not), but much the better side in this soaking encounter. Not much goal threat until the 2nd half subs Matty Oldfield and Mike Cowans stamped their mark on the game. Around 80 minutes had been played when Captain Yates, Jake Ankers and some old geezer grabbed late goals to claim all 3 points.

A sterling performance by Basil at the back claimed him the Man of the Match trophy and 4 pints at the Crown. Adam and Jake battled well through the puddles and Matty Oldfield was an immediate threat when introduced.

Happy 22nd birthday to Thunderbolt who had clearly burnt the candles at both ends, glazed eyes, beer breath, a shocking show by his standards and then fell asleep back at the pub (mind you, City were on).
