A welcome return to Sunday morning football and a great start with a home win.
Queens started the game with 9 players and in turn we treated it as a friendly but after 20 minutes when they went to 11 men, we began to play some football with nice interchanges between Adam Stuart, Yatesy and Ben. It was Adam that opened the scoring with a typically cool finish. Yatesy must have thought Sky Sports were covering the game when he added a 2nd with a scissor kick from the edge of the box! Mike 'Ashley Young' Cowans powered forward from left back, cut inside on his right and curled the ball into the top corner to make it 3-0 at half time. Jimmy 'the Legend' Stuart and I were happy to call it a day there and then but we were only half done...
The 2nd half saw Queens take the game to us and with our wide men tiring we became overrun in midfield. Never-the-less Olly bagged on his 19th birthday, cooly beating the keeper in a one on one. We gave away a soft penalty with Steve Heaton a judged to have bundled over the striker in the box. Danny 'MILF' looked like he got a hand to the penalty but it bustled in the corner for a Queens consolation.
Overall very happy, still areas we can improve on but with personnel to come back into the team, looking forward to next Sunday already.
