call-for-participation

TL; DR:

The Long Version

Thank you so much for your contributions to CCSC Eastern! In addition to the papers, there are other opportunities for you to participate.

For this round of emails, I would like to call your attention to workshops, tutorials, and panels.  CCSC Eastern is a great place to discuss new ideas and inform each other of new computing and computing education patterns.  With the advent of mainstream media knowing about GenAI, there is ample opportunity for discussion on the topic of Computing Education (a workshop or tutorial, perhaps?).  In addition, many of the states are trying to make a larger pipeline of CS educators in the k12 space – are you an expert? If so, consider submitting a workshop or tutorial.

In addition to Pedagogy, Cybersecurity is still a hot topic, as is IoT, Blockchain, Quantum computing, and Gaming.  So, if you have been busy creating something new and collecting data about your success – please consider writing a paper.

Finally, are you and others you know using GenAI in CS1, CS2, and other computing spaces? Do you know others who would be willing to sit on a panel on the topic? If so, please consider putting together a panel for the conference. We can help with the details.

CCSC Eastern is a regional conference for computing educators by computing educators.  If you have a great idea – of you know someone new to CS Education- or have been working on a paper, consider submitting your work to the conference. All areas of computing research and practical work are encouraged to submit.

This year, we are excited that Mount St. Mary’s (The Mount) will host the 40th annual conference in Emmitsburg, MD October 18-19, 2024. Thank you, Ruth, Scott, and your team, for hosting. I have visited the campus in the past, and it is spacious and beautiful.

The Submission System opened last week, and the deadline to submit your work is May 31, 2024.  (Student submissions and programming teams can be submitted later).

There are many ways to participate in the conference: Papers, tutorials, workshops, poster presentations, panels, and light talks.

We also encourage student participation; there are poster presentations, student paper sessions, and a programming competition.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

If you have questions, please let us know!
