2014 was another good year for Ben. Strong performances in the middle distance events at the East Cork T&F Championships set Ben up for a great run in the County 600m race where he finished a superb 2nd place. Ben also had great success as part of the 4 x 100m relay team winning medals at both County and Munster level. After a slow start to the XC season Ben found his form at the Munster Championships coming home in 14th place, helping to secure the silver medals for the Cork team. He continued his good form through the outdoor season performing strongly in both sprint and middle distance events in the East Cork and County T&F Championships. He won a silver medal in the 4 x 100m relay at the Munster T&F in the C.I.T. John missed the start of the XC season but returned in time for the Munster’s in Tipperary where he came home in 17th place and secured the all-important place on the Cork U12 team for the national championships. 2014 was a superb year for Penny with successes on the track and particularly in her favoured cross country. Penny won medals in all her East Cork middle distances races and also won the silver medal over 600m at the county Juvenile ‘B’ T&F Championships. Penny kicked off her XC season in style with a 6th place finish in the County Championships, and followed this up with a great run up in age at the Munster XC where she secured a place on the Cork U12 team for the National XC. At the Munster U11 XC Penny ran a superb race to come home in 7th place and in helping her Cork team to the Gold medals she also secured her place on both the Munster & Cork teams for the National Championships. Penny recovered from a slow start in the National XC in Dundalk to finish as 7th scorer for Cork just missing out on a medal. However all Penny’s hard training paid off at the National XC in Santry where she came home in a brilliant 12th place, winning an individual medal and also helping her Munster & Cork teams to the gold medals!

Daire O’ Sullivan BU13 XC

Daire had a short but amazing season in 2014, only joining Carraig na bhFear AC at the end of October. He made his debut for the club at the East Cork uneven age Championships in November where he won the U13 race in some style. As always Maebh put in the extra work on getting her technique back in order and was rewarded with a gradual return to form winning county and Munster Javelin medals. At the National T&F Championships in July all Maebh’s training paid off with some great throws, she threw 4 new PB throws on the way to winning the National bronze medal.
