May 27 2016 - they are in a unique position in California - there are no federal wildfire stations in Santa Cruz County - they could create a countywide FD and probably save the costs of 12 chiefs salarys - and not miss them - then they could absorb AMR Ambulance - just about all of the stations are already manned with either 3 people or 1 person - they could start paying the "volunteers" some really good pay - which should boost their numbers - public safety officers would be the next step
