The 'NIFC Cache' or 'NIRSC' is a supply of portable radios and
portable repeaters kept in warehouses for use on large wildfires and
large disasters. AFAIK any of these channels can pop up in use
anywhere in the USA; however they are usually found in use in the
western USA at wildfires.
( The closest cache of NIFC radios to New England may be prepositioned
in Minnesota or Atlanta GA. You would have to check the 2013
Mobilization Guides for NE and SE to confirm that. Or maybe the Natl
Mob Guide. )
Note - L3 should be 408.7875 R with 417.7875 input - there is a 9 Mhz
split on these UHF repeater pairs
Note - the UHF channels (400 Mhz) are not used at the fireground by
firefighting crews. The UHF channels are used at the fire camps (by
the cooks and coordinators etc), and used to link fireline repeaters,
etc. The VHF freqs are used by the actual firefighters on the
fireline/firescene/fireground.
Note - L6 is new for 2013 - at least in California - (probably
nationwide also) - 408.6875 R - 417.6875 input
Note - there are multi PLs used on the various UHF frequencies
Note - 410.2375 R + 410.4375 R + 410.6375 R might be used for more
than just "aircraft links"
Note - the C7 pair is not available for use in California in 2013
apparently - it probably is not available nationwide either
Note - the listed AM aircraft freqs are shared with all aircraft
(civilian and government) - there are many other aviation band AM
freqs assigned for wildfire operations

- this is my listing of air to ground freqs - more info than the list
at Radio Ref plus source info - supposedly is "inaccurate" per Radio
Ref - kettle calling pot I think
Note - I dont work for any federal agency so I dont have direct access
to their "secret" documents. These agencies seem to consider all radio
freqs to be top secret. This probably contributes to the multiple
errors found in the documents and various major errors in programming.
For example, in 2013 they decided to put PL on fireline channels, but
had to rescind that order at the last moment.
