Week 3
Open up the SAME google document that you created before, titled like this: Core # Last Name, First Name Reflections. You do NOT need to re-share it with me, because I already have this document. Simply start a new paragraph and answer the following questions in a high quality manner:
Describe, in detail, what you have accomplished since your last reflection. Have you been a GREAT citizen throughout the course of this project? (Growth, Respect, Empathy, Accountability, and Trustworthiness). Choose one or two of these concepts and elaborate how you have displayed that characteristic recently. Consider the 5 C's - Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Communication, Creativity, and Citizenship. How have you applied these skills in as you've worked on this project?
Note, there is not an accountability report to complete this week. Instead, focus on content completion.
Week 2
Open up the SAME google document that you created last week, titled like this: Core # Last Name, First Name Reflections. You do NOT need to re-share it with me, because I already have this document. Simply start a new paragraph and answer the following questions in a high quality manner:
Describe what you have individually accomplished this week? What was the best part about this week? In what ways could you have modified your behavior or your work ethic this week? If you could change anything about this week, what would it be and why? Describe a way in which you used GRIT this week (Gumption, Resiliency, Integrity, and Tenacity). How would you rate the manner in which you interacted with your group members this week?
AFTER you have written the above paragraph in the SAME document as the reflection that you wrote last week, then fill out this week's ACCOUNTABILITY REPORT.
Week 1
Create a Google Doc that is titled exactly like this and share it with me: Core # Last Name, First Name Reflections
Write a long, high quality paragraph that is double spaced in a size 12 legible font. Describe what you have individually accomplished this week. If you were present for the guest speaker, what were your reflections from that day? How did it feel working with the power tools? What was the best part about this week? What could you have improved upon this week? If you could change anything about this week, what would it be and why? How would you rate your ability to work independently on your research paper?
Some students have asked me how to double space in google docs. Watch THIS VIDEO to learn how. DO NOT hit enter twice at the end of each line to get a space in between the lines.
Browder's Reflections from Week 1: Last Friday we had a guest speaker come, Todd Meier, and I thought that went very well. I was thankful that he kept the students engaged the entire class period, especially with the hands on materials and and activities that he brought with him. This week of construction and research has gone well so far. The number one thing is that all of my students have remained safe. I find it to be very intense to focus on two moving saws at once and constantly make sure that everyone is on task and safe at all times. I struggle with how much to correct during the measuring and sawing phase. I am constantly concerned about whether my students who are working on the cube content are actually working or they are just goofing around. I've made several mistakes throughout the week. For example, during Core 1 on Monday I had my researching students stay in the same room as me while construction was occurring. I originally thought this would be a good idea because I could keep an eye on them, but I know the construction was an extreme distraction for them. Also, they were distracting to me when I really needed 100% of my focus to be on overseeing construction. On Tuesday, I added the miter saw and the shop vac to my list of tools, which went much smoother than trying to cut the 2x4's with the circular saw (which was acting up) or the jig-saw, which is not the tool for the job. I also had to make several logistical changes with google docs and that quiz. Despite all the mistakes and set backs that I have made thus far, I like the challenge that this project brings to my teaching and the opportunity to constantly grow, be flexible, and learn from my mistakes. It gives me great energy to see my students conquer the use of power tools, taking risks, and building their confidence. Overall, a great start to this journey!
Once you've completed and SHARED with me the above reflection, complete this week's accountability report (on google forms - link has been taken down).
