Engineering Design Challenge: How to Make an Action Figure Jump Higher - Free flow read the first few paragraphs of the ADI projected. Given a thing of playdoh, unsharpened pencil, meter stick and action figure, spend ~4 minutes trying to figure out how to make a teeterboard. Once a group or two has it, show everyone. Discuss a factor that could change how high the figure goes. Model a table on the board and mandate that be your first IV. Then, show how to take data (consider making a poster board or something that makes a wider visual to be able to measure data). Then, have students brainstorm other possible IV's - have them choose two others and make tables/take data for those. As debrief, analyze a set of data.
