Update on Update on Sir Als GSXR 400

Nice to see Sir Al showing some renewed 'love' for his neglected GSXR400. Here is his latest spiel from the last few weeks 'activities' with his Gixer.

"After a rather long hiatus I've finally made a start on finishing the little GSX-R400. The push I needed came in two hits; first was seeing the finished RG400 project of Kim and Dion, being the end result of 2 years of work. The second was Dion arriving with front and rear paddock stands, meaning I could fit the motor. This I did with help from Bruce Andrews and suddenly it started to look like a bike again. The exhaust has had a patch welded on the collector and has been painted and fitted. The carbs have had new float bowl needle & seats fitted (ex Suzuki Japan), but got to the end of my patience trying to get the carbs mounted and was busy looking up motorcycle wreckers when Kim and Dion arrived. Had the carbs fitted in 1/4 of an hour! Had a good crack at starting the little mill, but not quite. Only a matter of time Dion assures me. Once the engine is running it will be new tyres, a chain, new battery, bleed the brakes and off for a ride before going any further with it. "
