The troops have been keeping busy over spring with the weather being kind enough to provide a good number of fine days to enjoy a variety of motorcycling activities. The growing interest in Adventure style riding saw a small group take a windy ride up Whariti peak on there, whilst the rest of us took a more leisurely way to Woodville via the track on our road bikes. It is always interesting to see coming and going of bikes amongst the group ad the arrival of a Suzuki DR400S generated some curiosity. It has been getting some use with a recent trip to Castlepoint accompanying Als Bighorn and Bruce on his BMW. The Wairarapa also provided a destination for a larger group ride that enjoyed the gastronomic delights of Martinborough. Great to see Al also out on his recently rebored H2 for this ride. The Manawatu Classic Motor Cycle Club managed to put on an excellent show at the Barber Hall that managed to raise a tidy sum for the local hospice. The Blue Haze made a great contribution to the show with a great selection of Japanese bikes. Racing has become quite an interest to a growing number of us. The De Lautours have always had it with Alan still racing his mighty RG500, and Paul and Kim slowly getting there Suzuki TR250 race track ready. The recent Manfeild round of the New Zealand Classic Motorcycle Racing Register provided two days of track time for the lads to back into the racing groove with Team Blue Haze represented by Tim making TR500 two stroke noises in his helmet on his CBR, Dion finally enjoying his NNU (not nipping up) NSR and Alans RG500 making lovely two stroke square four noises amongst all the four strokes in the open class. To finish off spring and get into the summer spirit, a visit to Mike Peros Motorcycle Museum is a great tonic to rekindle those 'golden weather' memories and have a go at creating some similar ones this summer!
