John Bavicchi Recordings

Recorded in honor of the composer’s 80th birthday in 2002, this disc features compositions for piano and voice. Virtuoso pianist Jun Toguchi plays Bavicchi’s Toccata, Op. 23 and Sonata for Piano, Op. 37. The pianist is then joined for two song sets by Soprano Trudi Hill on Op. 17 and Alto Maria DiStefano on Op. 6A. The final piece on the disc combines the two singers and pianist with two oboes for Bavicchi’s Hallam Songs, Op. 116. The first performance of this set of five songs.

A recording of a concert given on June 7, 2008 in honor of John Bavicchi’s 85th birthday. The featured work is Tomorrow Will Be Today Op. 126 featuring Clarinetist Gary Dranch, Soprano Robin Ginenthal, and a chamber chorus and ensemble conducted by David Callahan. The concert also includes works by three of Mr. Bavicchi’s former students. Two of those works are brass quintets by Kenneth Pullig and Kenji Kikuchi. The third work is Peter Hazzard’s Three Scenic Moods, Op. 75. The composition was written for Mr. Dranch and is, in effect, a concertino for clarinet and piano quintet.
All the music on this disc is available from  BKJ Publications.
