Founded in 1955 by Boston composer John Bavicchi (1922-2012), BKJ Publications has specialized in bringing musicians new music at very affordable prices. Our catalog of instrumental and vocal music ranges from studies for student musicians to works for virtuoso professionals, and from solos and chamber music to concert works for symphony orchestra, band, and chorus. Our composers represent a wide variety of contemporary music. Pages with information about each artist are in the menu to the left.
NEW TO OUR SITE:
For the convenience of high school, collegiate, and civic band directors we have added a new section on our "Purchase Here" page devoted to the many works for concert band and wind ensemble we have published.
NEW FOR 2016 !:
As we begin our 61st year, our first publication is a wonderful piece for Narrator and Percussion Ensemble by the late Boston percussionist Royal V. Jones. The piece was written in 1969 to feature the percussion section of the a local community orchestra. THE PRINCESS and THE THIEF is an charming and humorous tale of a young thief who is bedazzled by a beautiful princess and her jewel. The running time is 5 minutes. While the work was performed many times in the Boston area for 30 years after it was written, it is now published for sale for the first time. More details available here on our New Publications page.
ADDITION OF POPULAR MUSIC:
BKJ is beginning an expansion beyond the world of chamber and orchestral music with the introduction of some contemporary composers of popular music. We are pleased to welcome New Hampshire singer/songwriter Chris Peters to the BKJ family of composers. Please visit the Chris Peters page to see his new Christmas song Christmas Angels.
