2018
Update: Two competitors from the local level in Bethalto, Josie Kuykendall and Noah Menke, were winners at the District #78 competition. It took place February 11th at St. Ambrose in Godfrey. They are now eligible to move on to the regionals that will be held at St. Ambrose as well on March 11th.
Since 1972, councils have sponsored the Knights of Columbus International Free Throw Championship, and as of 2013, it is open to all boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 14. Winners are eligible to move on to the district, regional, and state or province levels. From there, some make it to the international level for championship competition in their group.
The annual local level of competition was held on Saturday, January 27th at the Our Lady Queen of Peace School Gym. Four of the participants performed well enough to be eligible for the district level of competition.
2017
Update: The annual Regional Free Throw contest was held on Sunday, March 12th. Three of those eligible for regional competition represented OLQP and our council, and one of them, Norm Frisch's grandson, Bryce Davis, finished second.

The Bethalto Council recently hosted the local level of competition at the OLQP School Gym. The event was coordinated by Gerry Mattix-Wand. The following is a list of the local winners for all groups represented.
