IMPORTANT UPDATE BEPSII meeting 2025

Due to the freezing of federal grants by the new U.S. presidential administration, approximately 80% of the funding we had secured has become uncertain. Since these funds are channeled through the U.S., we currently do not know when or if they will become available. This is an unexpected and unfortunate situation, and we deeply regret the uncertainty it creates for some of you.

What This Means for the Meeting

• The meeting will proceed as planned, as the remaining secured funds can cover onsite costs of the meeting and a little more.

• If you are planning to attend onsite and have requested support, please be aware that we may face significant constraints in providing financial support.

• We strongly encourage those who can secure alternative funding sources to consider doing so, as this will help us support as many participants as possible.

Action Required: Update Your Registration

To help us assess the situation, we have modified the registration form to include new sections asking:

1. Whether financial support is absolutely necessary for you to attend.

2. The specific amount of funding needed to attend.

If you have already registered and requested funding, we kindly ask you to update your response in the form accordingly by deadline.

Next Steps

• We will update you as soon as we have more concrete information.

• We strongly encourage all participants to complete or update their registration by 9 February, so we can assess needs and adjust plans accordingly.

• Funding decisions, initially planned for 11 February, may be slightly delayed, but we will communicate any changes as soon as possible.
