TARGET
30 Early Career Scientists, preferably PhD students, but also Master students and early Post-Doc are eligible to apply.
SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM
Frontal lectures, field and lab work on topics such as:
basic sea-ice and snow physics
sea-ice optics
sea-ice nutrients
gases fluxes at the interfaces
sea-ice carbon cycle
sea-ice primary production
sea-ice biogeochemical modelling
land - sea ice - ocean interactions
life in the North

Travelling to/from Cambridge Bay might require one night staying in Edmonton or Yellowknife
Arrival at the station on 12 or 13 of May
Accommodation in double rooms just next to CHARS station
Catering on site
Departure from the station on 24 or 25 of May
SCHOOL FEE:
950 EUR. It includes all meals, transport to/from Cambridge Bay airport to/from CHARS station, school materials, etc.
FUNDING AVAILABLE
The first BESPII Sea-Ice School will be possible thanks to the many organizations that will support it:
POLAR KNOWLEDGE will provide accommodation and use of station facilities for all participants
SCAR and CliC will support school applicants, lecturers, and school activities
IASC will support applicants from IASC countries
NSF will support US students
Applications for funding is done in the school application form (see link below). The BEPSII SSC will select the applicants based on best merits and will allocate funding, if requested by the applicant, and according to the organizations' guidelines and availability.
