FOL Volunteer Spotlight: Patty Bennett-Uffelman / Changing Lives in Charleston County

Patty and Janet Segal run a nonprofit called BEGIN WITH BOOKS, which is the Charleston County affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. This is an early literacy program that encourages family literacy by mailing books to infants and toddlers, one book per month, from birth through age 4. We started in 2010 and are already shipping books to almost 1,700 children each month. Our goal is to reach every pre-school child in Charleston County – eventually!
