Biography:
A member of the Sealey Best family, who owned and operated the Best Varnish works on Rosebank from the 1880s, Albert Edward was born in London 15 September 1875, and arrived in NZ with his family in 1886. On enlistment, he was living in Tauranga, working as an self-employed mechanical engineer. While in France in 1917, he contracted measles, which left him debilitated and hospitalised. He survived the war and was discharged 6 February 1919. He died in Gisborne, 9 January 1973.
