I would like to thank the hard working committee people of Area 11 for the great job they did in recruiting candidates to run this cycle. Because of you all, every seat that is available has someone running, and in some cases, we have a primary battle.
Recruiting candidates, as well as getting people active in the organization is no easy feat. But there are places that can be looked at for new people, and some of these places are ideas that are not necessarily political. I recently heard a list of ideas from Chairman Groen that I thought I would share, and they include:
· Boards and commissions in the township
· People who have a applied for positions on boards and commissions
· Civic and community organizations
· Super voter file
· Letter to the editor writers
· Frequent speakers at township meetings
It is important that this be done on an ongoing basis. The worst position to be in is to be close to an election and grabbing the first person with a pulse to run just to fill a spot. Our goal as an area is to have qualified, intelligent people running to represent our local constituents.
Again, thanks and job well done to everyone who worked on candidate recruitment. On to victory in November!
