ACT Chess Association – Treasurers Report FY 2024
The ACT Chess Association operates 3 accounts. The ANU Chess Festival Account is inoperative,
and currently holds a balance of $2,355.61
The ACTCA General Account held a balance of $8,852.42 at the end of the financial year. The
turnover for this account was $23,038.25, with a net loss of $2,079.69 over the 2024 Financial Year.
The major contributor for this was the reimbursement of the previous treasurer (Paul Dunn) for
payments made on behalf of the ACTCA in the 2023 Financial Year. As this was a one off payment,
the ACTCA can be expected to make a small profit in most years.
At the end of the 2024 Financial Year, the Doeberl Cup account held a balance of $39999.98. The
2024 Doeberl Cup was particularly successful, with an income of $66655.99. Expenses from this
account totalled $55950.03. Expenditure from this account was not confined to the Doeberl Cup,
with the ACTCA paying for the printing of scoresheets for the various chess clubs. There were also
payments made for both the 2023 Doeberl (venue hire) and the 2025 Doeberl Cup
(accommodation). This account saw an increase of $10.705.96
Overall the ACT Chess Association is in good financial health, with no major financial risks likely
to occur in the near future.
