The Shalford firm of Nelco Engineering made electric motors and also products for the Royal Navy during the Second World War.
David Rose's talk is on some history topics in and around Shalford including the Nelco Engineering works that until 2007 were in Station Road. David says: "For over 40 years my dad worked for the electrical engineering firm Nelco that had a factory on two sites in Station Road, Shalford and another in Farnham. When I was growing up there was always a lot of talk about the firm in our household. I also had an uncle and cousin (Les and Andrew Brookes) working there at the time. Another uncle (Robert Kings) had once worked there, and my now late dad often talked about his workmates and told stories about the company."
