Heath Robinson became a byword for something that was done in a rather unusual, often slapdash, way - though youngsters today may not be aware of the phrase. William Heath Robinson was a talented artist, who developed his skills in cartoons, often about very topical subjects, but often showing some very surreal ways of doing things.
