Many people know of the existence of the Necropolis railway line leading through Brookwood Cemetery, but from 1890 there was another railway branch which led northwards from Brookwood Station to the National Rifle Association (NRA) headquarters at Bisley. This presentation is about the NRA and its association with the London and South-Western Railway, from its beginning in the 1860s at Wimbledon Common until final demise of the branch in 1952.
Colin Rumary travelled along the original route of the branch to see whether there was still any evidence of the railway and will show the photos he took along the route. There were some very interesting tramways on both sites and these links will also be included in the talk.
