Paradise Hotel & Casino Busan

Paradise Hotel & Casino Busan

Paradise Hotel & Casino Busan (formerly spelled Pusan) first opened in November 1981 and is still open today. It is located in the Haeundae Beach area of Busan, the second largest city in South Korea. This casino belongs to the Paradise Group. This picture was taken from a ferry ride and shows the hotel's two towers. During the summer the beach is packed with people.

Initially the hotel opened on November 1, 1981 as Paradise Beach Hotel after the company bought Hotel Haeundae.

On September 15, 1999 Paradise Hotel opened it's new, second building.

A fellow chip collector from Spain, Fran Alejandre, has had a chip in his collection for about 20 years (since 1990). He asked if it was from the Paradise Beach Hotel & Casino in South Korea. Here's the chip:

I checked into it and there is a lighthouse nearby. It's called Haeundae Lighthouse, a very scenic spot.

The character on the left chip stands for thousand in hanja (Chinese/Korean).

Fran has an excellent website located at: franchips

Walter D. sent me this scan of the 5,000 won chip:

The characters on the right chip stands for five thousand in hanja.

These are probably the first issue chips from Paradise Beach Hotel & Casino.

In 2006 there were no 1,000 won chips and a light weight token was used. The mintmark is "RWM".

The chips below the token were obtained in 2006 and manufactured by Bourgogne-et-Grasset, identified by "BG" at the bottom of the inlay. They are the same on both sides.

The 1,000 won token and chips are available for trade or sale.

Paradise Hotel & Casino Busan Key Ring Chip

This is a key ring chip obtained in 2006. It is the same on both sides and can be identified by a hole at the top. The chip has five light purple squares along the edge where the light purple circles are.

These pictures were taken off a gaming pamphlet obtained at the casino in 2006. It shows higher denomination chips. The 1,000,000 chip is serial numbered. Both chips were manufactured by Bourgogne-et-Grasset, identified by "BG" at the bottom of the inlay.

Paradise Hotel & Casino Busan Roulette Chips

A gaming pamphlet explaining the rules of Roulette was obtained from the casino. Inside were pictures of Roulette chips. The chip picture on the left was enlarged. On the inlay is the logo & "Paradise Casino Busan".
