Cheju Hyatt Regency Casino

Cheju Hyatt Regency Casino opened in 1985 in Seogwipo on the island of Jeju. Cheju is currently spelled Jeju.

The hotel is located in the Jungmun Resort area.

Hyatt is currently owned by a Chinese company, Landing International Development Ltd.

The casino is a joint venture of Grand Express Korea Co. Ltd., Landing and the Hong Kong subsidiary of Malaysian conglomerate Genting Bhd.

In February, 2015, the casino opened under the name of Genting Jeju Casino.

At this time it is unknown if there are new casino chips.

The casino was named Beluga Ocean Casino in June 2014.

This is a Coin-in-Center chip of unknown issue and is the same on both sides. It can be identified by six orange dashes along the edge. This mold was manufactured by the Bud Jones Co. in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This chip is obsolete and not in use in the casino.

These were the chips being used in Beluga Ocean Casino in June 2014.

These chips are over sized at 44 mm in diameter.

Here's an interesting tidbit. I took a photo in April of 2009 of a poster advertising the Grand Opening of Beluga Casino.

The chip in the poster has the same logo (whale tail).

The thing that's different is the current location.

Jeju Shilla Hotel is another hotel in the same Jungmun Resort area as Hyatt Regency Jeju Hotel.

Currently, the casino in Jeju Shilla Hotel is MajeStar Casino and has been this name for about 2 years.

At some point Beluga Casino moved from Jeju Shilla Hotel to the Hyatt Regency Jeju Hotel.

Or, it never opened in the Jeju Shilla Hotel and opened in the Hyatt Regency Jeju Hotel.

Does anyone know the chain of events?
