Orbital Traffic Control / Orbital Quarantine Command (OTC/OQC)

The OTC/OQC tracks and identifies, in real-time, all the items in Earth orbit, including space crafts, orbital facilities, satellites, asteroids and space junk, and informs all of the participants about situation in orbit. The OTC/OQC uses the tracking facilities of many countries all around the world, all of which are connected to a single network with a governing datacenter.

The OTC/OQC obliges all nations to inform the OTC/OQC about: All items belonging to this particular nation. Orbital launches. Orbital maneuvers. Any unidentified object is immediately reported to the UNSA.

The OTC/OQC was founded in 2050. The founding members were Russia, Germany, Japan and Australia; many more have joined as participants and observers. The Orbital Traffic Control center is located in Noginsk, on the base of the Russian 821st Main Space Intelligence Centre. In 2060 Canada joined the OTC/OQC council.

Supreme Truth Movement

Originally based in South Korea, this Church/Cult has spread throughout much of Asia. Seems to generally involve the veneration of technology based 'miracles', specifically some kind of god-like Artificial Intelligence rather than a traditional type religion. The Supreme Truth Movement is a movement, not an organization, there are many factions, philosophies and leaders, none of which seems to be especially unified of unifying. e.g. Someone likely received a 'brainwave download' to manufacture Baklava flavored engrams, someone else took seeing random static on a screen as divine orders to move these engrams to random locations on the globe. Random behaviors and bizarre communications abound; so much useless activity that when things do get done it can only be described as the result of lucky chain of events.

Unrest in Balochistan Gwadar, Balochistan (former Pakistan): Several people protesting the Chinese naval base in the city have vanished and were later found in a mass grave outside the city. This led to protests which led to a clash of arms between government forces and clan militia resulting in dozens dead and wounded and property destruction. No Chinese nationals have been injured yet but the animosity is growing stronger and the work on the Chinese pipeline has ground to a halt.

Japan Leads in Space Technology

In cooperation with several former NASA contractors and building upon the lessons learned from the United States defunct shuttle program, Japan has deployed its own Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV). Speaking on the behalf of JAXA directorate, Mitsubishi Heavy Industry CEO Akira Omiya said, “We aim to conquer the space frontier and harvest its riches. To accomplish this we need to expand our launch capacity and embrace new technologies.” The current Mitsubishi MHI-IIA multi-stage rockets will now be joined by Mitsubishi-NEC MN-1 Space Shuttles. The maiden flight went well with shuttle ‘Taiyōuma’ (Sunhorse) docking with Crystal Palace carrying supplies and construction materials.

United Nations (UN)

International Court of Justice

The Closest the UN has to its own Judicial Branch, the International Court of Justice provides ruling on issues submitted to it by states and other international bodies. This body is also used when a UN organization wishes for an advisory opinion on matters of confusion to it. Enforcement of its ruling is the responsibility of the Security Council

Secretariat

The Closest the UN has to an Executive Branch, the United Nations Secretariat, headed by the UN Secretary-General, generally carries out the policies decisions of the various other UN organs.

The Closest the UN has to an upper house, many feel that this is the body which can actually do things. It also is the UN's primary veto point.

There are many NPC entities with which a player nation may wish to make a deal with e.g. Oil SRU from Libya. Place your bid in the 'Bids on Deals with NPCs' thread on the RPOL site, no secret deals will be allowed. Each new deal must be a new, separate msg on that thread and be titled “<Bidder name> to <NPC name>” e.g. Indonesia to United Launch Alliance. Bids are only accepted for taking effect the next turn. No deal can be of duration greater than 1 Turn. Role-play is encouraged but bids can only be in terms of Bidder name, target name, specific numbers of game recognized units or actions or $ offered and requested, e.g. Indonesia to United Launch Alliance: $20 for use of 1 Rocket. Payment is due the Turn before services are rendered. At the Referee's discretion, making a deal with an NPC may require succeeding in a Task of difficulty set by the Referee. A change of 20% per Turn of an NPC’s total production of an SRU is available to be easily sold to another Settlement, more than that will be more difficult. At the end of the Turn the Referee will post to the same thread a summary of which bids have been accepted. After winning a bid the deal can only be reneged on or altered with the explicit permission of the Referee.
