History 2015 - 2020

War Round

Pakistani Instability Continues as Violence Escalates Islamabad, Pakistan: The withdrawal of food subsidies led to civil unrest escalating to civil war and declaration of independence by Balochistan and Pashtunistan. US, UK, China, and India all fearing stray nukes intervened leading to a clash of arms and almost nuclear exchange. The stray nukes were recovered but not before the major powers came to blows. Luckily cool heads prevailed and peace was achieved. Rest-Pakistan is looking inward to stabilize and is mourning the loss of large parts of its territory and population but perhaps it is a bit more stable. Still a nuclear power, the Pakistan government says they will review their nuclear doctrine and program”.

March 2016 – Pakistani President Zardiri announces the reduction of food subsidies for the poor. Almost immediately rioting breaks out in Peshawar and Islamabad. Riots soon spread to other cities of Pakistan.

April 2016 – Pakistani President Zardiri is killed when his motorcade is hit by a VBIED. Lashar-e-Taiba and Al Qaeda claim joint responsibility, although some intelligence circles suspect the ISI and the Pakistani military was involved. General Khosa, head of the Pakistani Armed Forces, assumes the presidency under emergency powers and promises elections at “some unspecified date in the future”. He also promises to re-instate the food subsidies.

May 2016 – President/General Khosa does not appear to have the full support of the ISI or even the military itself, and liberal factions, such as they are in Pakistan, claims that he is violating the constitution by not allowing elections within 30 days as required by law. Riots continue unabated. Finally, a noted Pashtun tribal leader named Shahzar Nasiri declares an independent Pashtun state with the capital in Peshawar and laying claim to all Pashtun areas in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Several Pakistani military units in the north defect to Nasiri.

May/June 2016)

- Organization of Islamic Cooperation calls an emergency session. Player countries: Nigeria & Indonesia are voting member. Russian Federation is an observer.

- Egypt is floating a provision that an Islamic (only) peacekeeping force be assembled. The sentiment is running high within the Muslim world against any "Western" military intervention. Words like "possible embargo" are being thrown around on Al Jazeera.

- Egypt, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia have pledged military troops should a peacekeeping deal be reached within the U.N.

- (Covert) - Saudi Arabia has offered Khosa to take custodial ownership of Pakistan's nuclear arsenal. Khosa has refused.

May/June 2016)

The troubles in Pakistan and the Pashtun areas of Afghanistan are going to result in the cutting of most of the supplies and fuel going to NATO forces in Afghanistan. NATO has enough supplies for about 30 days of full tempo operations, and 3-4 months of defensive only operations. Beyond that, you will need to either open up an alternate route (ie through a Russian controlled corridor), forcefully open up a route through Pakistan which will require a large military effort, or ultimately, abandon Afghanistan altogether.

0428 GMT (0928 local) June 13th, 2016: President Khosa is assassinated by one of his bodyguards at Aiwan-e-Sad in Islamabad. Several other bodyguards immediately shoot the assassin dead. Rumors of foreign involvement circulate in immediate aftermath on Pakistani internet chat rooms.

0630 GMT (1130 local) June 13th, 2016: Pakistani Joint Chiefs of Staff convene an emergency session, declare martial law and appoint General Ashfaq Kayani as interim president. At press conference, they announce a commitment to democracy, stabilizing Pakistan, the security of the Pakistani nuclear forces, and the absoluteness Pakistani territorial integrity (to include the Tribal Regions and Kashmir)

0930 GMT (1430 local) June 14th, 2016: Agents of the Pakistani Intelligence Bureau attempt to arrest Ashfaq Kayani for involvement in the assassination of President Khosa. A firefight breaks out between the military police defending Kayani and the IB agents, and Kayani is killed in the crossfire. Head of the Pakistani IB holds a news conference alleging a widespread conspiracy within the military to seize control of the government, with the aim of going to war with India

June 15, 2016: Sporadic skirmishes between various Pakistani military units

June 16, 2016: Widespread violence breaks out in many Pakistani cities, as separatists, militias, criminal gangs, military, and police all vie for control.

June 16, 2016: NATO supply routes to Afghanistan effectively cut by violence in Lahore, Quetta, Karachi, and Peshawar. Supplies and fuels on train cars are burned.

June 18, 2016: The province of Balochistan announces independence, Iran guarantees.

June 18, 2016: Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, Iran, Libya all threaten an oil embargo against any nation that militarily intervenes or is complicit in allowing intervention in Pakistan.

June 20, 2016: Terrorists execute terror attacks in several Indian cities, modeled off of the 2008 Mumbai attacks (several small squads of terrorists indiscriminately attacking civilians with small arms). Several hundred Indians are killed, a thousand plus wounded

June 20, 2016: Indian and Pakistani forces in Kashmir exchange artillery fire

As of June 21, 2016:

No clear central authority in Pakistan

Baluchistan and Tribal Areas are defacto independent, several division sized military units in those areas have "gone native".

Street fighting in Islamabad and Lahore between factions claiming to be the rightful government (primarily: Khosa military faction anti-Khosa military faction)...tanks & artillery are being used.

Pakistani Air Force as of yet has not been involved.

Unknown status of Pakistani nukes.

June 21, 2016 - Your IR spy satellites detect a large VBIED explosion at PAF Base Mushaf (confirmed nuclear warhead storage site for Pakistan), followed by the start of an intense firefight between forces unknown and base security. Base security is approximately battalion strength, attacking forces appear to be twice that size (although appear to be militants rather than military - civilian trucks and cars being used).

June 21-22, 2016 Night: Around all PAF bases and many more urban and military locations in Punjab and Sindh there are fireworks and light show of a magnitude the world has not seen since Baghdad over a decade ago. Buildings, men, and material are consumed in flames and strewn miles around and planes are falling from the sky like tears from a child who dropped his ice-cream.

June 22, 2016, 0500hrs local (GMT+5) As the sun rises Al Jazeera shows live pictures from PAF Mushaf. US A-10s and F-22s are circling the base once in a while firing into the urban area surrounding the still burning base. Small arms fire is heard all the while support planes are landing, troops and supplies spilling out, wounded loaded and taking off. Troops are strengthening defenses and herding about 100 Pakistan prisoners, 200 wounded and 50 dead bodies.

The Pakistan airspace is controlled by foreign powers; China which has air superiority in Balochistan, Pashtunistan and the area north of Abbottabad and India in the rest of Punjab and Sindh. But both seem to stay clear of a corridor 100km wide between Bagram airbase in Afghanistan and PAF base Mushaf (Sargodha) when US supply planes are flying, which they are almost constantly doing escorted by F-22 . The only Pakistan aircraft seen are on the ground destroyed. The fight is still ongoing in Punjab and Sindh between Pakistan SAMs and mostly India's air-force. Pakistan army units are setting up a perimeter about 5-10 km outside PAF Mushaf, initially, it seems to be 1-3 brigades of artillery and motorized infantry, more are on the way but are hindered by fleeing civilians. The previous artillery duels in Kashmir have spread and are now ongoing along the entire Indian-Pakistan border.

June 22, 2016, 0800hrs local (GMT+5) Off the Baluch coast an Indian destroyer interdicts and searches a Chinese civilian vessel destined for the Chinese naval base in Gwadar with supplies. A conflict breaks out and one of the Chinese sailors is killed. The Indians complete the search, leave and the ship continues to Gwadar.

June 22, 2016, 1800hrs (GMT+5) All major TV networks around the world (Al Jazeera, CNN, BBC, FOX, RTL etc…) are showing live feeds with running commentary. “We have footage of crashed military aircraft from four countries: Pakistan, India, China and USA but what we don´t know is who shot who.” “USA assaulted and now occupies a PAF base.” “Pakistan, a province in Afghanistan...” “It seems India is working with USA and China. This is unheard of!” “Well, you see, a major non-NATO ally is not..hrm…well…Pakistan have weapons of mass destruction!” “Appalling!” “Finally!”

June 22, 2016, 1930hrs (GMT+5) As night falls on Pakistan the sky lights up as the foreign air forces and the Pakistan SAMs go at it again.

June 22, 2016, 2200hrs local (GMT+5) Al Jazeera shows a statement by Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman. He is surrounded by many of the (still living) Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and the Pakistan National Command Authority. “Pakistan is at war. The Indian armed forces who have been interdicting our and international ships outside our coast and shot at the people of Kashmir with artillery have since last night bombed our military and our cities. You have all seen it in the streets and on television. India is our enemy. THE USA have called us a major non-NATO ally for many years when we helped them in the so-called war on terror. They were still calling Pakistan their friend and ally yesterday when they assaulted the PAF Mushaf, which is now occupied by the armed forces of the USA. They killed our brave soldiers, they damaged the bunker where we kept some of our nuclear arsenal in storage, which may be leaking. They have betrayed us. The USA is our enemy. We in this room have had conflicts and differences of opinion with each other. We know it, you know it. But for the sake of our country and people, we have all agreed to put that aside, defend the country and purge the land of these infidels. Therefore I reach out a hand to the people of Baluchistan and Pashtunistan: help us brothers, all is forgiven and we shall prosper together or we will most assuredly die separately. Let us not fool ourselves, we are fighting for our very lives. Therefore: All reserves are called to active duty. All Americans and Indian nationals have 24hrs to leave the country after that they will be arrested for their own protection. We call on our friends, allies and all peace-loving folk of the world. We especially welcome observers and troops from the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Help us today and fight this aggression or tomorrow it might be your country.”

This chaos is dangerous to the stability of the entire region and the world. We urge you to leave Pakistan territory and stop the naval blockade. The OIC are sending civilian observers to Pakistan, they will arrive Karachi airport in 24 hours. The world needs to see what is going on. International Presence Increase in Somalia Mogadishu, Somalia: The President of the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia said: "The government of Somalia is happy to report that international support, both civilian NGOs and civilian and military government support is increasing. Especially from Germany, but also from France, China, India, and South Africa. We have secured most of the country and I am sure the rest will follow soon. To help us in this endeavor we have invited Germany to set up a base here. The Germans showed a remarkable composure during the Pakistan crisis and we are confident that with their help we will soon see a more peaceful and prosperous Somalia. The South African navy press officer said: "We have dispatched 1 squad of corvettes to Somalian waters to maintain the law of the sea. The mission is not only to capture pirates but also, and this is where the SA navy is a bit more ambitious than the navies from countries who incidentally have large trawlers and other suspect ships in these waters, interdict vessels who abuse the Somalian government  lack of authority in their economic zone by illegally fishing, dumping waste and such." However, analysts claim that much of the decline in piracy has actually come from so many of the pirates getting shot in the increased violence within Somalia itself.

Greek Economy Sees Slow and Unsteady Recovery Athina, Greece: The economic recovery is going slow and unsteady. Every cutback is met by rioting and every success sees new problems. The EU peacekeepers and police sent here have been hated by the Greek population since day one and have been sent away, the only decision by the Greek government that has met public approval. What most Greek citizens don´t realize is the central role of the German government in this crisis. Without the German loan guarantees, Greece would, according to some analysts, be bankrupt at best and close to a revolution at worst.

Spaceports Open Across Europe: Germany, UK, and Ukraine Kerch, Crimea, Ukraine: Kinloss, Scotland: The construction of Spaceport Scotland has been a great success, many private companies in the space industry have set up shop here at the former RAF AFB Kinloss. Virgin Galactic, who made Kinloss their European spaceport, has even sent their first round of tourist into orbit. A UK government spokesperson said that "We have together with major universities and private companies created a space industry worth its name. We will step up our commitment to the ESA and the exploration of space. The UK will work together with the ESA and other countries but also with private industry. The Crystal Palace project, a space station to take over after the ISS, is our main priority right now.

Germany Reinforces Space Plans Inside the ESA:  Rostok, Germany: The German government has released today the plan to reactivate the old Soviet air base in Damgarten as a spaceport for launching and serving orbital facilities. ‘Space industry is taking force and we cannot be left behind’, declared the German Industry Minister. ‘While we can make launches from the French facilities in Guiana, with whom we are cooperating, it’s not as efficient to have to ship them than to be able to launch them from our own bases, where parts can be railed or built near them’. The German government vows those facilities would be open for use to the ESA, and don’t discard other countries to be allowed to use them if the join use can be agreed. Some German industries greeted the construction of the facility, that is hoped will give a boost to space industry and an economic boost to the region.

Also, in a joint conference given by the R&D ministers of Germany and other ESA countries, there has been announced the operability from now on of the Galileo European GPS system. This long-delayed project would allow EU to be less dependent on USA’s GPS system and is seen as one of the main ESA’s independent space plans.

Crystal Palace Space Station Announced Köln, Germany:  In a joint press conference today, the spokesmen of Germany, Japan, UK, France, India, Russia, and ESA had announced the beginning of the Crystal Palace Project. This project will build a permanent multinational Space Station (the Crystal Palace) to serve as an orbital terminal for Earth and laboratory for research better done in space.  ‘We all together must take the lead if humanity is going to move at ‘ declared the German Minister of Research and Technology in the press conference. The orbital terminal is thought as a joint project for use of all partner countries and open to negotiations for others.
