Red Mountain T cast iron wood cook stove, Birmingham Stove & Range Co, Alabama is found in the museum Cracker Kitchen. This stove has a warming "safe" area on the right hand side.
The stove was manufactured by the Birmingham Stove &Range Company in Jefferson County, Alabama. The founder was Sam D. Jones and the brand names of Red Mountain, Century, Pioneer, and Lady Bess were manufactured between 1902 - 1989.
Here is a little history of the company.
1898 - Jones family acquires controlling interest in Atlanta Stove Works
1902 - Birmingham Stove & Range Company established to produce hollow ware and stoves for the Atlanta Stove Works
1916 - Land was acquired and construction started to replace building previously lost to fire
1930-1940 - Red Mountain series of cookware produced
1950 - Automated molding begun
1954 - Century series inception, replaces Red Mountain branding
1957 - Atlanta foundry closed but Birmingham Stove Company continues to produce productw under bothe the Atlanta Stove Works and Birmington Stove & Range name
1966 - High volume DISA automated molding machines installed
1989 - Birmingham Stove & Range foundry closes, DISA machines sold to another company who continues to produce cookware for Birmingham Stove & Stove Company
1991 - Lodge also produces some products including Sportsman Grill for Birmingham Stove & Range Company
1993 - Company files for bankruptcy and relinquishes patterns to Lodge to satisfy its debt
