The "Ranger" Box Stove is a typical antique box stove. Box stoves are some of the earliest stoves made, and they do not require a grate but the ashes on the bottom insulate the bottom plate of the stove and keep it from cracking due to heat. They are always used with wood.
The "Ranger" manufactured by Southern Co-operative Foundry Company of Rome, Georgia is one such box stove that will and has stood the test of time.
The museum has a Ranger in the Cook \ Utility Box Car. It has a connection for a water tank, so water could be kept hot.
