MidTerm Break for Students:  Y1 to Y6 students will have their Mid-Term Break (Holiday) from Sunday October 22-26, 2023. Students will resume their regular attendance on Sunday October 29, 2023.

 ستكون عطلة منتصف الفصل للطلاب من الصف الاول الى الصف السادس من يوم الأحد الموافق 22/10/2023 إلى يوم الخميس 26/10/2023. ويستأنف الطلاب حضورهم المنتظم يوم الأحد 29 أكتوبر 2023.

 COMMON COLD (Upper Respiratory Tract Infection) PART-2

The common cold or (upper respiratory infection) is one of the most common illnesses in children. Each year it leads to more healthcare provider visits and missed days from school and work than other illnesses.

Diagnosis of common cold

Most common colds are diagnosed based on symptoms. But cold symptoms may seem like other bacterial infections, allergies and health problems.

How to treat common cold

There is no cure for the common cold. Most children recover from colds on their own. Antibiotics don't work against viral infections. Instead, treatment is focused on helping ease your child's symptoms until the illness passes.To help your child feel better:

1. Give your child plenty of fluids, such as water ,electrolyte solutions, apple juice and warm soup.This helps prevent fluid loss (dehydration)

2. Make sure your child gets plenty of rest

3. To ease congestion, try saline nasal spray

4. Keep your child home until he or she has been fever-free for 24 hours

5. Use a cool-mist humidifier in your childs room at night to make breathing easier

Possible Complications for Common Colds

1. Ear Infections

2. Sinus Infections

3. Pneumonia

4. Throat Infections

How to prevent Common Cold

1. Keep children away from people with a cold

2. Teach children to wash their hands often. Have them wash their hands before eating, and after using the bathroom, playing with animals or coughing or sneezing. Carry an alcohol based hand gel for times when soap and water aren't available

3. Remind children not to touch their eyes, nose and mouth

4. There is no cure for the common cold. The goal of treatment is to ease symptoms until your child feels better     

نزلات البرد (عدوى الجهاز التنفسي العلوي) الجزء الثاني:

تعتبر نزلات البرد أو (عدوى الجهاز التنفسي العلوي) من أكثر الأمراض شيوعاً عند الأطفال.مما يؤدي إلى كثرة زيارات مراكز الرعاية الصحية والغياب عن المدرسة.

تشخيص نزلات البرد

يتم تشخيص معظم نزلات البرد الشائعة بناءً على الأعراض. لكن أعراض البرد قد تبدو مثل غيرها من الالتهابات البكتيرية والحساسية والمشاكل الصحية.

كيفية علاج نزلات البرد

يتعافى معظم الأطفال من نزلات البرد من تلقاء أنفسهم. حيث أن المضادات الحيوية لا تعمل ضد الالتهابات الفيروسية. وبدلاً من ذلك، يركز العلاج على المساعدة في تخفيف الأعراض لدى طفلك حتى يتعافى من المرض.

لمساعدة طفلك على الشعور بالتحسن أعط طفلك الكثير من السوائل، مثل الماء، ومحاليل الإلكتروليت، وعصير التفاح، و الحساء الدافئ. وهذا يساعد على منع فقدان السوائل من جسمه (الجفاف).

• تأكد من حصول طفلك على الكثير من الراحة في حال إذا كان مريض

• لتخفيف الاحتقان، جرب بخاخ الأنف الملحي

• أبقِ طفلك في المنزل حتى يصبح خاليًا من الحمى لمدة 24 ساعة

• استخدم جهاز ترطيب الهواء بالبخار البارد في غرفة طفلك ليلاً لتسهيل عملية التنفس

ما هي المضاعفات المحتملة لنزلات البرد

• التهابات الأذن

• التهابات الجيوب الأنفية

• التهاب رئوي

• التهابات الحلق

 كيفية الوقاية من نزلات البرد

• أبعد الأطفال عن الأشخاص المصابين بنزلة برد

• علم الأطفال أن يغسلوا أيديهم كثيرًا. اطلب منهم أن يغسلوا أيديهم قبل الأكل، وبعد استخدام الحمام، أو اللعب مع الحيوانات أو السعال أو العطس. احمل معك جلًا لليدين يحتوي على الكحول في الأوقات التي لا يتوفر فيها الماء والصابون
