Thank You: Angel Family

Dear Faculty, Parents and Students of SCHS,

The end of the school year is almost here and before it's over we wanted to share some thoughts with all of you. It has been a challenging and amazing 4 years.  It is difficult to put into words the amount of gratitude we have for ALL of you.  We can not thank each of you enough for embracing, tutoring, befriending, guiding, supporting and helping Jimmy through the last 4 years. It is because of all of you, in every big and small way, that Jimmy has been so successful at St. Catherine's.  We feel extremely blessed to have given him the opportunity to go to St. Cat's and that all of you helped make it happen!  We could not be more grateful for your help in making this dream a reality for us, for him, and for creating a path for others.  The amount of support from all the faculty, parents and students is extraordinary and has touched our hearts deeply.  Of course, being at this school, with its rich history of community service, outreach, love, care and respect, we are not surprised!  We can only say a million THANK YOUs for embracing our son.  He truly is an ANGEL now, like all of you!

Go Angels!

With deepest gratitude, honor and respect,

John and Kim Perez

Day With Purpose: Freshmen and Sophomores

"In a world where you can be anything be kind" ....

On Wednesday we spent the day serving our community. The Day Of Purpose was focused on being kind to everyone and serving through kindness. We started our day with a prayer service. This helped us create a service first mindset and guide us in answering the question: "how will our service impact others?" Our mission was to make sure everywhere we went today we left a positive impact.

We served at various places in and around Racine and Racine County. Some of the places included: Hope Safe House, Woof Gang Rescue, St. Monica's Senior Living, Salvation Army, HOPES Center, Habitat for Humanity, Hospitality Center, Riverbend Nature Center, Racine Zoo, Kingdom Builders, Ridgewood Care Center, HALO, Veterans Outreach and supporting parishes.

Our day was filled acts of kindness and an attitude of gratitude. We met some amazing community members and made a lifetime of memories. Some our memories included preparing decorations at the zoo, spreading mulch at the Dominican Center of Racine and so much more!!

Day With A Purpose: A Few Photos

A FEW PHOTOS FROM DAY WITH A PURPOSE!!

Junior Retreat

Our Juniors spent the day at the Siena Center of Racine. They had what is called a sunrise retreat where they come together early in the morning and prayerfully watch the sun rise as a group. Our Dominican Pillar for the retreat was prayer. Throughout the day we will be played games, participated in mass, made posters and did a letter activity.

Senior Retreat

Senior Retreat focused on the Dominican pillar of SERVICE. We held our retreat at Wonderland Camp in Lake Geneva. The Pillar of Service means: Creating a civically engaged environment that forms conscious world citizens who appreciate the dignity of every individual, driven by both word and deed.

A Special Thank You

We would like to take a moment to give a VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to a few individuals who worked tirelessly to make this week possible. They went well above the call of duty to make Day With A Purpose, Junior Retreat and Senior Retreat happened for our students. The endless hours of planning, gathering all supplies, booking the events, creating groups for the students, designing t-shirts/wristbands, preparing meals, making sure transportation was available for the groups that needed it and every detail in between.

Mrs. Prideaux, Mrs. Dahlgren, Mrs. Mielcarek and Mr. O'Brien - THANK YOU!!

Thank you for giving our students a day filled with a lifetime of memories. Our SCHS Family can not THANK YOU enough for taking this on and making it the success it was. Your devotion, support and efforts did not and do not go unnoticed.  A standing ovation from all of us to you!!

THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!

Dominican Youth Conference

The Dominican Youth Movement USA (DYMUSA) is a nationwide non-profit organization connecting youth/young adults to the Dominican Order’s tradition of preaching with their own call to preach. In 2015 DYMUSA brought together five different programs engaging young people of high school age through their young adult years – unifying their support and promoting their collective social impact.

The theme of the conference has remained the same: each of us is called to preach the Gospel in our own unique way.  During the six-day conference, Dominicans (members of the Order of Preachers) highlight the charism of preaching as it has been practiced from the earliest days of the Order to the present. Participants meet many Dominicans who preach the Gospel in a variety of settings. Participants also have the opportunity to visit service sites where they can “put their preaching into action.”

Each day begins and ends with a prayer/ritual prepared by the participants with the assistance of Dominican liturgists. At the closing Eucharistic celebration, school teams share ways that they can take the message of the conference back to their school communities.

At the end of the conference, students are challenged with the creation of an action plan for the upcoming school year. This plan is the vehicle for sharing what they have learned at the conference to their college campuses. With the Dominican Charism firmly planted in mind, body, and spirit – the “Holy Preaching” continues!

Overnight conference out of state with Mrs. Dahlgren. Would love to bring 4 students with me to Michigan where we will be having a retreat with other high school students from around the world. This is only for high schools who follow the Dominican way as we do. Email Mrs. Dahlgren if you are interested in coming. Note there is a cost of $475 for the week.
