Career Connect is your home for your employability development and you can use this site to support you in lots of different ways. Below, you can find summaries of each of the tabs and guidance on how to make the most out of Career Connect.
The Home Page offers you quick links to the key resources and services of Career Connect. You will also find recommended vacancies, your booking, and saved vacancies on this page. The Home Page is a useful summary of everything you can find on Career Connect so it is a great place to start your exploration and discover what might be most relevant for you and your employability journey.
This tab is where you can explore and find vacancies, organisations, internship/placement information, events, and pathways. Vacancies advertised here cover a range of role types and organisations - use this to find part-time roles, graduate roles, internships, and placements.
Information about organisations can be useful in exploring summaries of organisations and where potential employers are located. Use this page to find out what industries and companies you would like to work for and to keep an eye out for roles they might be advertising.
You can also explore potential placement and internship opportunities via this tab - this includes any schemes that the university wants to highlight.
The Events page can be found via this tab. You can explore what events are being held by the Careers and Employability Service, specific organisations, and your faculty/department. Regularly checking this page means you will stay up to date with the support and events that are relevant to you. You can also access 'Careers On Demand', which has videos from past sessions that you can watch whenever you like.
The 'Pathways' can be useful to explore common topics and questions students have about their employability and future career choices. These pathways can be helpful as a starting point and help you make the most out of a 1-2-1 Careers Advisor appointment.
This tab is where you can book a 1-2-1 appointment with a Career Advisor. Appointments will only show 72 hours in advance for you to book.
You can also book to attend events using this tab. This will take you to the events page, where you can search for and select events to sign up for. You can also use the filter function to help you find the most relevant events and resources. The 'Careers On Demand' tab allows you to access recordings of past sessions to watch whenever suits you.
This tab is where you can view your mySkills profile and take the mySkills assessment. You can look at the mySkills Guide for more information about the assessment and how to complete it. Your profile will help you track your skills development, and you can also add to your 'My development experiences' to keep track of your skills and experiences. The 'My History' tab also lets you evaluate and reflect on your completed assessments and track your confidence. This can be a useful tool to see which skills you want to focus on developing and where you are most confident. You can use this information to find opportunities and experiences that will benefit your employability development the most.
This tab is where you can update your profile and interests. You can explore a summary of your engagement with Career Connect on this page as it shows the pathways you have completed, events you have attended, and your mySkills assessment results. You can also use this page to write yourself a Career Objective - you can use this to help keep yourself focused throughout the year and adapt it as your wants, needs, and priorities change.
This tab helps you explore the articles, activities, and resources written about key employability topics. You can use the explore page to find relevant articles or use the search bar to explore specific topics. This tab also has organisation profiles, which you can use to explore potential future employers. You can favourite individual pages so you can easily find them again.
