You will need to use the following resources:
5V – 9V DC Power supply or battery.
Banana to Crocodile Clips cable or suitable wires.
Red and Black Single Core Wire (Single Core wire is easier to use in breadboards).
Wire Cutters and Strippers.
220 Ohm Fixed Resistor.
A number of Light Emitting Diodes (LED’s).

Practice using your breadboard to build series and parallel LED circuits. You may wish to use a variable DC power supply instead of a battery but don’t exceed 8V otherwise you risk blowing the LEDs.

You can use software such as TinkerCAD to simulate this activity- this will still give you experience of using a breadboard even if you don’t have one or any components to hand.
The breadboard in TinkerCAD works in exactly the same way as a physical board. You must get the connections correct in order for it to work. Look at Fig 1 and Fig 2 and see if you can simulate the circuit as shown. Once you have successfully got your circuit to work see if you can alter the circuit to run LED’s in parallel or perhaps add a switch.
