Whilst I always attempt to avoid mathematics wherever possible, I am afraid that there are some circumstances where the use of mathematics is unavoidable!
In this instance we can see that a mathematical relationship exists between Voltage ( The amount of pressure the electricity is under when it is pushed around a circuit, also known as potential difference or electromotive force), Current (the rate of flow of electrical charge around a circuit) and Resistance (the opposition to electrical flow in a circuit). This relationship is called Ohms law shown in Fig 1.Fig 1
V(Voltage, Volts V) = I (Current, Amps A) x R (Resistance Ohm Ω )
This formulae can be transposed to give us I and R using the triangle method as shown in Fig 2.
