What kind of visa will I be applying for?
– In the past, many teachers were brought into Saudi on a Work Visit Visa. However, now most teachers must be brought in on a Saudi Employment Visa leading to a Saudi Residents card (Iqama).
Do I have to return to my home country to apply for the employment visa?
– Yes, we must apply for the Employment visa through the Saudi Consulate in your home country and you must be there.
What are the main employment visa requirements?
– You will need to obtain a Medical report, Police Background check, and Degree Attestation.
What If I need help with the application process?
– The application process can seem daunting, but no worries. Our Assistant Director, Operations will support your application from start to finish, and we usually assign an experienced teacher to help as well.
Does Shabaka cover my flight to Saudi Arabia?
– Yes, we will send you a free e-ticket (we usually book through our sponsor’s local travel agency).
Does Shabaka cover the visa expenses?
– Yes, we will reimburse you for all of the expenses including the Medical report and visa fee (up to $500 USD for the medical). The entire cost should be less than $1000 USD.
How long does the visa process take?
– It depends on your diligence in obtaining the required documents and reports. Some teachers who hustle are able to obtain the visa in less than one month. Others seem to take up to three months.
Will a Shabaka representative meet/greet me at the airport?
– Yes, we send one of our trusted drivers with a sign.
What airport will I be flying into?
– Most teachers are flown into Dammam Airport which is about 90 minutes from our compound.
Do women need to wear an abaya on the plane to Saudi Arabia?
– No, but our driver will bring an abaya for you to wear in the van (optional).
What documents do I need to provide for the employment?
– You will need a valid passport (not expiring for at least one year) with two open facing pages, your attested degree and certificate, and two passport photos.
Does my diploma copy and/or TEFL copy need to be notarized?
– No, but your diploma (degree) will need to be attested beforehand. It’s a good idea to create an e-file with electronic copies of your degrees and certificates in case you misplace them.
Do I need to provide an original copy of my degree?
– No, but you will need an original to be attested.
