With about 80 – 100 people from more than ten countries in one place you can either lock your door for some peace and quiet, or find a few teachers heading out to one of the local malls or restaurants.
Living in a compound is a skill, and like any new skill it can take a while before you get the hang of it.
We would like to assure you that you are in a very safe area.
Given the choice of walking at night in London or Al-Ahsa, I would choose Al–Ahsa every time. You do not need to carry your passport with you when you go out. A Westerner in this area means you are with the Saudoons, and that is identification enough. Women need to exercise the same caution you would back in your hometown (i.e. don’t go out late at night alone). Please remain aware even when walking on the sidewalks.
