Cons
Repairs can take a long time, and quite often it is hard to find someone who is skilled enough to repair certain things.
We live as a community, and certain behaviour (loud music at night) etc can be problematic.
After 6 months of working, living and travelling together people can become a little irritated with each other!
FYI
No matter how good you are in the classroom, if you are disruptive or problematic on the compound it will count against you. Therefore we always ask you to think of others and try to live in a way that keeps the peace.
We try to keep it as relaxed as possible around the compound, but we ask you to use common sense with certain aspects of compound life.
Please don’t congregate late at night in front of people’s rooms, they might be trying to get to sleep early. Instead move to the rec-center and use the sofa area to sit and chat.
Saudis are not allowed onto the compound without express permission from our compound manager. Any Saudis that are allowed to visit will have to provide ID at the security gate.
King Faisal students are NEVER allowed onto the compound.
Taxi drivers are usually stopped at the gate, so be prepared to have to walk the short distance to your room.
FYI
At the end of the contract 2000 Riyals will be withheld from your salary. After the room has been inspected, and is found to be clean, the money will be returned to you.
Please be respectful to each other when using the laundry facilities.
There is a list of very basic rules on the laundry wall, please ensure you follow them.
If the compound laundry facilities do not meet your requirements, please feel free to use one of the local launderettes marked on our map. They wash and iron a work shirt for around 2 -3 Riyals.
Please see compound Internet page.
Broken stove? No hot water? Please send us a message with the contact form to reach the compound manager.
