The article “Native American Identity” by Perry G. Horse is about Native American Identities. Perry talks about how he sees Native American tribes adapting to the “White people way” and how they were being modified to white society. She is sitting on the hill with her elders as they overlook the village and are disappointed in the change with the “white man's” culture and machinery. In “sharing one skin” the lady describes the hurt within the community and the community being filled with fear. She also describes the suicides in her community that have a hard time having their spirits lifted but also shows a comparison of the community without either of the problems.

The Article from “Sharing One Skin” by Jeanette Armstrong has so many parts that I connect with. A couple of parts I connect with are identity and responsibility. I thought about who i am and where i come from, along with all the lectures that my elders have given me. Never forget who you are and always remember where home is because your heart belongs here no matter what. Along with my identity was my clans and where I belonged to. I had certain duties that had to be filled and responsibilities for teaching the ones below me. The next part of the article that I connected with deeply was change in our community and how we do certain things in life that shouldn't be changed. My elders and father along with the clan leaders and community leaders have seen change within the middle aged community members. The elders and leaders are not pleased to see change because the new technology and machinery can record or disrupt our sacred traditions. The biggest problem we have had and still are having is alcohol and drug abuse along with suicide. More deaths happen from those three than anything. Programs have been set in place with hotlines but they are afraid to reach out for help because society will always judge and say hurtful and unnecessary comments. Although these connections are not positive, change is happening within the communities.

The article “Native American Identity” by Perry G. Horse is about Native Americans and American Indians and their identities. Perry talks about native american tribes trying to adapt to the white man's way but don't want to practice their own traditional ways of life. The “White Privileged” is known as the white race to be higher than any other race. They are meant to be “praised” by everyone. Supposedly the white race is more dominant than any other race on the planet and is based on oppression.

As I read “Native American Identity” by Perry G. Horse i have understood the article and the reason it has been written. The connection between me and the article happened instantly, we as a native community have been changed by growing technology and other religions coming in and community members converting. As a young man in my community I have seen older men before me not able to speak the language or having a hard time. I have exoericande it for myself that our community is changing and we need to come together to change that. We have since then been implementing that the younger generation speak our language at home and be spoken to in our language on a daily basis to not lose our language. I have also experienced white privilege while out eating and during a football game. It doesn't feel great because it puts you down but i was taught to never let anyone put me down and to always be proud of where i come from. We are identified by our race or identified in the community. We get enrolled and from there on, we become part of the community.

A woman by the name of Valentina Blackhorse was greatly affected by coronavirus. She lost her life the day after she found out she had contracted Covid-19. She was highly talked about and was always finding ways to help and lead her entire tribe. The tribe has suffered a great amount of casualties from the virus that caused more than 2,757 infections and 88 deaths as of Friday. The lack of reliable resources like running water, or the community members suffering from obesity and diabetes. Pre-existing conditions were also targeted by the coronavirus and people who contracted the virus were affected greatly and were most likely to pass on.

My connection to the article is my community members also have pre existing medical conditions that could be fatal to people who contract covid-19. The community members have been in lockdown for a period of time that made them go out on daily exercises or walks. They also know to be following the social distancing protocol because they do not want to contract covid-19. They fear the virus because the majority of the members have pre existing medical conditions, or diabetes. Another medical condition in my community is obesity, members with obesity conditions can also be fatal if the virus is present in their body.

Activities that can keep you from contracting covid-19 so easily. Regular physical activity benefits both the body and mind. It can reduce high blood pressure, help manage weight and reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes which are all key factors to contracting covid-19 in any location. The conditions that i have just named are being targeted by the virus at high rates. The immune system of the people with the following conditions have seem to be fatal for the patients who have had pre existing conditions that have also contracted covid-19. Performing simple activities like stretching or walking around for 2-3 mins can help reduce the risk of contracting covid-19 and increase the strength of your overall immune system.

I connect deeply with this article because I am an athlete myself and I know the importance of being healthy and always active. I work out every day of the week and have weekends as my resting days, I have been instilled with the mindset of always working hard to improve myself. I don't only do it for sports [performance but for my health and to persuade others to do the same. Me and my family are all active during the week and eat healthy foods because a healthy diet improves your work day along with giving you energy needed throughout the day. We know the importance of a healthy balanced meal along with being active throughout the week in order to reduce the risk of contracting covid-19.
