Six Year Old Left Alone On The Wrong Flight

A six year old boy squirms uneasily in his airplane seat, surrounded fully by strangers and airline security. It sounds like a scene straight out of Home Alone 2, but this was the unfortunate reality for a six year old flying in Philadelphia International Airport. Without parents, relatives, or any supervision besides paid members of Spirit Airlines, the six year old child was sent to fly to Southwest Florida International Airport to meet his grandmother, Maria Ramos. This risky mission went south as the child was incorrectly put on a flight to Orlando. His grandmother and family drove approximately 160 miles from Fort Myers to pick the alone child up, and Spirit Airlines offered reimbursement for the drive. They even issued an investigation to determine the root cause of the mistake.

Nonetheless, this perilous journey is met by complaints from the students of Sewanhaka. Hamza Rafiq, sophomore at Sewanhaka High School, states “...the parents leaving the child was totally irresponsible and extremely dangerous. Sure they left the child with paid people but that’s still crazy. I hope they learned something from having to deal with the stress of their child being in the wrong city of Florida”

Another sophomore at Sewanhaka High School, Annie Ye, seems to be in agreement with Hamza, claiming “I could never imagine anything like that. How could the parents just leave their own child alone on a flight? They just literally paid some strangers and handed over their child.”

It seems that most people are on the same page that the parents of this six year old child are completely irresponsible for leaving their young toddler on a flight unsupervised; except for a few airline security members. Fortunately, the child was not harmed and safely picked up, and hopefully an incident like this does not happen again.
