Oscars Awards 2024

  March 10, 2024, was a special day. If you don’t know what day that was, it was the Oscars or the 96th Academy Awards! This year it was hosted by the one and only, Jimmy Kimmel. It was his fourth time being the host and he didn't disappoint. The 2024 Oscars weren't long on surprises. The nominations were announced on January 23, 2024. Oppenheimer was in the lead with 13 nominations, followed by Poor Things and Killers of the Flower Moon with 11 and 10. Oppenheimer won seven awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. 9th grader, Meghana Nair spoke lightly on the topic by saying, “Oppenheimer was a huge hit and I saw it coming with all of its wins. It wasn't too dramatic and was a light Oscars compared to other nights.” A tight race between Lily Gladstone and Emma Stone for best actress, but in the end, it went to Stone. We can't forget to mention how the Billie Eilish Barbie song beat out the Ryan Gosling Barbie song. An 11th grader said, “It was a very interesting night. A lot happened, to be honest, it was all expected from the start. No surprises for me!” On that note, what are your opinions on this year's Oscars?
