Kate Middleton's Cancer Diagnosis Announcement

By: Pg Marshall

So I am sure as you all may know Kate Middleton has announced that she has been diagnosed with cancer. On March 22 the Princess of Wales announced to the whole world in a two minute and 14 seconds video. Before her announcement, there was speculation that she had died or she had cosmetic surgery on her face because she had not been in public for months and rumors started to speculate that something bad had happened to her. Most of these rumors were speculated on the TikTok app.

When the video was put out, a small majority of people were not happy about it because they claimed that this was forced because of all the rumors and they said that the royal family and their team should’ve done a better job at controlling the videos so she wouldn’t have to be forced to come out and saying that she has cancer. On the other side, most people are happy that she came out because they say that she is putting herself out there so she could be truthful to her people. Many people have mixed emotions about how the royal family has taken this and put it out to the public.

When Sewanhaka High School students Jordany Alvarado and Mayhedi  Bhuyain gave their opinions on how they felt this situation was handled, Jordany said “ I think that they handled the situation well. I feel that Kate telling the public about her cancer was very brave of her. Agreeing with Jordany, Mayhedi said “ as sad as hearing this news, I'm happy that she came forward to tell the truth so everyone can know what she is going through. It makes her very courageous in my eyes also being that she could be the future queen of Britain. I think that she gave people more hope and trust in her.

Overall, the media reaction to Kate Middleton‘s cancer announcement was positive. There are some negative aspects that people took on TikTok, but people are happy that she came out because it shows that she is human like all of us. Her announcement not only opened her personal life to the public, it also helped raise awareness for cancer. In conclusion, do you disagree or agree with the way the royal family came about this?
