Football, a sport which entails the combination of running, walking, sprinting and kicking, can provide numerous health benefits such as increased stamina, improved cardiovascular health, reduced body fat, improved muscle strength and tone, increased bone strength and improved coordination. Our dedicated Sewanhaka football players include Michael Staiano, Muizz Zulfiqar, Carter Fredericks-Dort, Kamari Denhart, Jaden Ramsaran, Braylon Metellus, Dominick Balletta, Mohammed Danial, Anthony Calliendo, Lovell Cannon, Christopher Pimentel, Jermel Heard Jr., Hezekiah Faison, Joseph Gallardo, Jamoi Bryan, Kevin Ospina, Ihiem Blackwell, Reyvon Powell, Antonio Sicignaio, Manny Cruz-Benavides, Sebastian Succes, Jhazeel Colimon, Jorge Perez, Jeffrey Connors, Abdullah Aflak, Jalen Brown, Dominick Wright, Armando Sanchez, Sean Marshall, Garvey Dorestan, Markese Gadson, and Tyler Bossous.

Our school coach Kasimatis, who started coaching in 2009, was asked some various questions about football and his job. The first question was, what makes a player excellent? "A person should have determination, be able to play with others, generally be a hard worker, and be able to overcome obstruction," Coach Kasimatis said. “Any game in general is developed as a group." When asked why he wanted to be a coach, he said,  "Coaches I had in school influenced me to become one and I love instructing people and teaching them some valuable lessons."

Coach Kasimatis was next asked about what elements excite him about football. He said, “[The] biggest thing about this sport is socializing and being able to help people. [It's] just fascinating and a new day everyday means new experience[s]. This year, our passionate and motivated players have played multiple games and have shown full commitment in it.”

Some games that have been played this season were against Herricks High School (in Searingtown), won with a score of 13-9,  and John F. Kennedy High School (in Bellmore), won with a score of 41-33. Additional games were won against Long Beach and MacArthur high schools (located in Long Beach and Levittown, respectively). Our school's enthusiastic and supportive coaches are on roll in coaching our passionate and committed players.
