Meet the High School Team!

Shannon Breckenridge, Associate Executive Director

I love the families that I'm privileged to work with, and whole-heartedly believe in the mission and vision of our schools as undertaken by our fabulous staff. I'm a Los Angeles native and mom to two full-fledged adults + one crazy Jack Russell rescue. This is my 33rd year teaching, with 21 of those years in the homeschool charter world. I particularly love working with high schoolers and helping students find their passion in life.

Linda Qian, Assistant Director of High School

My name is Linda Qian and this is my 7th year working with the Sequoia Grove schools. I immigrated to the United States when I was only 3 years old. I transformed from a talkative toddler to a quiet reticent child; I was not prepared for the language and culture shock. I slowly came out of my shell thanks to my wonderful first-grade teacher. She patiently helped me develop my English language skills and spent extra hours after school encouraging my interests. Her dedication to education left a phenomenal impact. I double majored in Economics and East Asian Studies at UCLA. While studying, I found myself devoting more and more time to my volunteer organization. Project Working for Immigrant Literacy Development (Project W.I.L.D.) started out as a desire to pay forward the kindness my first-grade teacher had shown me; by graduation I knew I wanted a career in education.

In 2011, I earned my Master’s in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. I have single subject teaching credentials in Biology, Mathematics, and Economics. I also have an administrative services credential. I have teaching experience at an international school, at a private school, and at various charter schools. Through my experiences, I realized that I was seeking an educational model where teachers fostered individual student growth just as my first-grade teacher had for me. I finally found the perfect fit when I started working for an independent study charter school in an administrative role. Every person has a unique path in life and I truly believe education should support the needs of each individual student. I simply love that our schools celebrate unique learners from the very beginning. I want to make sure that all of our high school students can thrive and follow their passions. I am so excited to keep expanding our high school options for students.

Claire Walker, High School Program Administrator

I believe that becoming is better than being and that students' education is a journey that I am privileged to be a part of. I have been teaching for 16 years and this is my 5th year with Feather River Charter school. I have a bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Texas A&M University (Gig 'em Aggies!) and a master's degree in Learning and Technology from Western Governor's University. I have taught Chemistry and Physics with our Virtual Academies for the past few years and am now overseeing the program. My goal is to create a safe online learning environment where all students can be successful. I love to run and have been called the Energizer Bunny and I bring that energy to everything I do!

Sharyce Perez, CTE/High School Curriculum Coordinator

My name is Reece Perez, and I have been blessed to be teaching with Feather River for 5 years now. My career has led me down some interesting paths, including everything from brick and mortar, to private school and charter school before I landed in the homeschooling world. It has been a world that continues to exceed my expectations, push the boundaries of the way I used to look at education, and has grown me as a teacher in ways I could have never planned for. Currently, I get to work with high school students and families, helping the next generation find and pursue their passions, however that may look. I am so honored to build on relationships year after year, getting to know families and students on a level that would not be possible in any other educational setting.
