Lake/ Mendocino County
Hello! My name is Melissa Beaudoin. I am incredibly fortunate to work with our Lake and Mendocino county families as a Family Liaison! During my time in this position I have met so many amazing families and am honored to have the opportunity to be there for them along the way. Building our homeschool community and helping to create connections and a system of support for families is one of the things that makes my day and motivates me. I homeschool my 2 beautiful children and feel like this journey has been one of the best I've set out on. I spend my time with them and am part of the most important years of their life. I strongly believe in taking the adventure of homeschooling one day at a time, knowing that there is no right or wrong way, just a solid commitment to nourishing not only my children's growth but my own. Having the ability to tailor their education based on their interests and passions is amazing, along with the opportunity to learn together as a family. I absolutely love watching them grasp a concept lighting up with pride when they take on a task and succeed. As a family we love to dive into arts and crafts, garden, fish, play family games, explore outside, cook, go on fieldtrips to fun places and so much more.
Rebecca LaSavio:

Amador County
My name is Rebecca LaSavio. I love helping people to discover the joy of homeschooling and find creative solutions to the challenges that inevitably pop up. I am excited to be a member of the Family Liaison team! I have been homeschooling my 4 kids since they started school. Our family enjoys the freedom in our schedule, the together time, and the piles of books we travel through. We have been with our charter since 2019 and enjoying being a part of the Sequoia Grove community!
I attended Westmont College where I got my B.A. in Liberal Studies. I have always loved working with children and I have a passion for the kids that are hard to understand or learn a little differently, the kids that life has thrown a curveball. Our family lived in Albania for 10 years, where my husband and I worked with street children and managed a home for girls at risk of trafficking.
Rebeka Heath:

Butte County
Hello! My name is Rebeka Heath. I love to travel, eat good food, and read. This year I have challenged myself to learn how to bake one new thing a month (too much Bake-Off during lockdown, perhaps!) I have 7 children and am currently in my 7th year of homeschooling. This year I have children in 6th, 5th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st grade as well as a toddler and baby. My favorite things about homeschooling are the flexibility, the together time, learning with my children, and being able to customize what they learn and how they learn it- to best serve their individual strengths, personalities and passions. I love encouraging and supporting families on their homeschool journey. I look forward to building a strong and thriving homeschool community in our area where students and caregivers can find friendship and support.
Sierra Arden:
sierra.arden@sequoiagrove.org - (916) 850-3047
Mendocino County Coast
Hello! My name is Sierra and I’m the family liaison for the Mendocino Coast. My husband and I have lived in Mendocino for 17 years, and I’ve been homeschooling our eight-year-old daughter with Lake View Charter for the last 3 years. I enjoy discussing curriculums and methodologies and hearing what is or isn't working. There’s always something new to learn. I love connecting with other families and feel so fortunate to be a part of this homeschooling community! It’s been an honor to support my child in her education, to watch her grow into the amazing person she's becoming, and to learn from the successes and challenges of being a homeschool parent. One of the advantages of homeschooling has been setting our own schedule. When we’re not embracing schoolwork, you can find us with our farm animals, growing food and flowers, crafting, or on a little adventure together. I look forward to meeting and supporting other Sequoia Grove families on their homeschool journeys!
Siobhan Berndt:
siobhan.berndt@sequoiagrove.org - (530) 670-0045
Sacramento County
My name is Siobhan (shuh-vawn) Berndt. I have been married to my husband for 15+ years and we have two wonderful kids. Our kids first started their education journey in a traditional school, but after debating for a few years about making the switch to homeschooling, 2020 happened and it was the push we needed! I never thought I would be a homeschool mom, but now our entire family is thriving and we are so happy we made the change. While not everyday is perfect, we love the flexibility of homeschooling and the opportunities we have been able to experience because of it. Not to mention, my kids love the fact that they can cuddle up to our family dog while doing school work. I look forward to making connections and supporting families in our Sequoia Grove community.
Sara Greco:
sara.greco@sequoiagrove.org - (530) 994-5087
My name is Sara Greco, and I'm excited to start my 8th year with our schools as the Lead Family Liaison! It has been a privilege to serve our homeschool families and school staff, and I'm grateful to have met so many wonderful people along the way. Our Family Liaison Team is preparing for another full year of encouragement and support to the Sequoia Grove Charter Alliance schools. I received a BA in Anthropology from UC Santa Cruz and was a stay-at-home mom for many years before joining the charter school staff. My husband and I met in college and have been married for 20 years. We have graduated our oldest son, and this year, we will have kids in 12th grade, 10th grade, 9th grade, 7th grade, and 6th grade, and everyone will be homeschooling, though all of our kids have experienced a variety of schools over the years. I believe education is not a one size fits all system, and I'm thankful for the many alternative opportunities available to our students today.
