Taking College Courses While In High School (Dual Enrollment and Concurrent Enrollment):
Getting Transcripts after taking a Dual Enrollment or Concurrent Enrollment course:
Here is a great Power Point that gives all the information regarding both Dual Enrollment and Concurrent Enrollment and what the differences are.
Requesting Transcripts - Counselors have made agreements with certain colleges so that our students don't have to request, and pay for, transcripts at the end of each term. Please ClickP Here to see if your college has a separate agreement.
Dual Enrollment with Yuba College:
Counseling Team's Dual Enrollment Presentation - Recorded Presentation and the actual PowerPoint (Slide 8 shows the planned courses throughout our 2-year cycle)
Dual Enrollment through Yuba College is when our HS students have the opportunity to take College Courses and get College Credits, however, they will only be with OUR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS!! These courses will NOT be open to any other students!!
Sequoia Grove's Dual Enrollment Website has more detailed information regarding each course offered.
Steps to Dual Enrollment:
Step 1: Make a CCC Apply account, by Applying to Yuba college, (tutorial updated for Fall 23) and through this (step by step process) you will apply to Yuba and receive a Yuba Student ID Number. Yuba college will send you an email within 24 hours that will include your Yuba College ID number. You must wait for that email containing your Yuba college ID number before you can move on to step 2.
Step 2: Fill out the Dual Enrollment (Also Known as the CCAP Enrollment Form), sign it, include the date range of all your years of High School and upload it to the JotForm, step 3 below (Your counselor will sign it and process it from the JotForm). THIS FORM IS NEW: THIS FORM WILL ONLY NEED TO BE FILLED OUT ONE TIME!! ONCE THIS FORM IS FILLED OUT AND SUBMITTED TO YOUR HS COUNSELOR, YOU WILL NOT EVER HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN WHILE IN HIGH SCHOOL!!!
Step 3: Fill out the Sequoia Grove Dual Enrollment JotForm.
Finally: The Counselor will process your forms and the college will place you in the course you choose. The only thing students need to do is check their Yuba College email and be familiar with the Student Portal.
Current Term classes being offered (FALL 24 WILL OPEN 4/29/24): (All details regarding each class can be found on the Dual Enrollment Website)
Fall 2024 Courses:

AJ 10 - Intro to Criminal Justice System - Fully Asynchronous, 3 college units - Professor TBD
Concurrent Enrollment:
Counseling Team's Concurrent Enrollment Presentation - Recorded Presentation and the actual PowerPoint
Concurrent Enrollment is when our High School Students take ANY California Community College Class (they just enroll along with other College students). They will get College Credits (as well as High School Credits) and they will begin to build their College Transcript.
Dates to Remember!! All Community Colleges go by their own dates, however, as a general rule, follow these guidelines for Concurrent Enrollment Applications:
Fall Enrollment - April time period
Spring Enrollment - Mid-October to First of November
Steps to Applying for Concurrent Enrollment :
Step 1: Make a CCC Apply account, by applying to the college of your choice (tutorial, updated for Fall 23) - step by step process given by Yuba; however, Every CA Community College has this same process of making a CCC apply account) Here is a another great informative sheet on how to apply to a Community College by using CCC Apply!! Remember, your CCC Apply number is NOT the same as your COLLEGE ID NUMBER!!! Once you have a CCC Apply number THEN you have to finish the application for your specific College ID number.
Step 2: Fill out the High School Recommendation Form (This form is from the college you are applying to. Scroll down to see information for specific colleges).
If you are applying to the following Schools, please use these specific applications (These links will get you to the correct forms):
Yuba College/Woodland College (use this tutorial for Registering for classes. This form is step 4 of the tutorial.)
Lake Tahoe Community College (their website for instructions). 9-12 College Placement Form
All Los Rios Colleges Download the Special Admit Form
Sierra College Under Option 1: PDF Permission Form: All Semesters.
If the college you would like to take classes at is not listed above, this below sheet will be very helpful in order to find your college's High School Application, as well as what age colleges will allow students to start taking classes. This same form will also give you all a popular list of College Courses and how they will count for High School credits. Look for CE GUIDES, under each specific college:
Sign the form from the college and upload it to the JotForm - Step 3 below (Your counselor will sign it and process it from the JotForm, do not email it separately to your counselor)
Step 3: Fill out the Sequoia Grove Concurrent Enrollment JotForm.
Step 4: Once these steps are completed, and the counselor processes the forms, you will get an email from your counselor with your next steps. Through Concurrent Enrollment, students will then have to go onto their College's Student Portal and Register for their own classes.
Step 5: Once the student is registered into their course/s then they will need to provide their High School Counselor with a Proof of Enrollment (a one page Documentation) showing: 1)Student's name, 2)College name, 3)Term classes taken in, 4)Course Title). All this information can be found on the students "unofficial transcript" from their College Student Portal...just take a screenshot and send to their counselor. This is how the courses get added to the student's schedule (MA).
Finding your Proof of Enrollment (the tutorials below show a different Counselor, so please make sure you send it to your own Counselor. If your college is not listed here, then please look on your college student portal for an "unofficial transcript" - This usually has all the important information that we need. Take a screenshot and email that screenshot to your counselor):
For Yuba and Woodland, Go to Yuba College Self- Service. Once logged in, please click on the graduation cap icon on the grey bar that runs up and down the left hand side of the screen. On the drop down that appears, please click on "Unofficial Transcript." Screenshot this and send it to your counselor.
Specific College Concurrent Enrollment Information:
Los Rios School District (Sac. City, American River, Cosumnes River and Folsom Lake):
District wide, there are several New Changes!!
Your Counselor will no longer email the application and transcript to the college. We will sign the form (Via our Sequoia Grove Concurrent Enrollment JotForm) and send it back to you, the student, and then you must upload it when you get to step 5 in the college's process (see step-by-step instructions for each individual college):
Students can now take up to 11 college units, be 14 years old or a Freshman in HS, and they do not have a GPA minimum.

Yuba College:
Requesting Transcripts - Counselors will now be able to get transcripts directly from the college, so students don't have to request transcripts for courses to be put onto the High School Transcript.
Students need to re-submit a new High School Recommendation form every semester. Summer 2022 and Fall 2022 are accepting applications at the same time, so students would have to submit 2 applications...one for the Summer 2022 and one for the Fall 2022.
If students apply to Yuba college and then miss both a Fall and Spring terms Consecutively, they will have to go back into their CCC apply account and re-submit their Yuba application (they will still have the same student ID number, they will just have to resubmit).
Testing and COVID Vaccinations: Students can either be fully vaccinated and show proof, or they can be tested each week. If students do not want to do either, they can take online classes - see COVID regulations under the College Information tab.
Helpful Tutorials:
Finding your Proof of Enrollment (the tutorials below show a different Counselor, so please make sure you send it to your Counselor - Michelle Bliss (L-Z) or Mary Buhr (A-K))
For Yuba and Woodland, Go to Yuba College Self- Service. Once logged onto self-service you click on student resources then click on academics on the left to get to unofficial transcripts. Screenshot this and send to your counselor.
College Information:
COVID Vaccination rules by college:
According to our Los Rios Counselor's Conference, ALL STUDENTS ON ALL CAMPUSES MUST BE VACCINATED. They will not allow anyone on their campus that is NOT vaccinated. They do not have a testing option. They do, however, have an exemption process if students want to try that option.
Yuba college and Woodland college students have 3 options: 1) Show proof of Vaccination or 2) Test each week if students are taking on-campus classes (testing is provided on their campuses free of charge), or 3) Students can take all online classes and use online student services and they will not have to be vaccinated or tested.
